Hi all! First post here.

Here's some video from a set from last year at Luggage Store Gallery in San Francisco -- this is about the middle 20 minutes of a 35ish minute set.

Setup was Make Noise Shared System (with a few add-ons), Marsynth WSB-a, Monotribe, Laptop & iPad.

Also on the bill was Alphastare vs. Infinite Plastic Internal -- thanks to Jeff from Alphastare for the vid.

Patch is here: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/patches/view/11066

Best,
Adam

My first live modular performance! Singapore music shoppe City Music invited a few of us to demonstrate our modular rigs in their showroom yesterday. Turnout was better than expected. Some pix of my rig courtesy of the City Music Singapore Facebook page:

My view from the rig before we started:

And if you want to go through the pain of hearing my 6 minute tribute to Stranger Things and Synthwave... its been posted on YouTube by one of the attendees:

Personally I found the guy before me and the guy after me way more interesting but I'll let them handle their own PR :). The guys at NUS's Electronic Music Lab have posted it all on their YouTube channel, and City Music has it on their Facebook page.

I used to gig regularly as a keyboard player in a cover band. This is the first time I've played live in a decade, the first time I've played solo, and the first time I've done "live" and "solo" with modular. Love it but I was nervous as hell and made a few mistakes, but that keeps it real. This short composition was very pedestrian, but I remember that performance confidence compounds. Moving forward, I know I will have some more interesting performances and posts to come.

I know right! An old gas cracking facility or something! An incredible atmosphere to play in

I actually returned to post a video from our last Modular on the Spot event, which happened this last weekend. I snagged a bit of everyone's set this time instead of only doing my own - got some half decent audio for some of them.

Well worth checking (not mine):

Werkstatt_klangapparate 2: Thilges trautonium
Sound Performance with Nik Hummer and Gammon, 18/11/2006, Berlin

The tone of the instrument incur through the mixture

the apparatus, but by multi-channel sound in the listening room. The

VLK and I played an experimental live show at NoiseBerlin last weekend.

We brought our modulars and some other bits of gear and played a set around vocal samples, which we gathered from the participants of my recent 15k subscriber giveaway.

Here's my first contribution...a live "acid house/techno" set I did last week in Tokyo, all on a 6U 84hp eurorack case with a Volca Sample and Volca FM.

https://www.mixcloud.com/starmandeluxe/sdlx-live-modular-techno-set-circus-tokyo-12-14-2016/

It's quite rough and raw, because it's mostly all improvised on the fly mixing, but I am happy with the sound I got.

Venue - Club Circus, Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan
1 hour, solo performance
Headphone Cue - No
Prepatched then improvised (some re-patching done for effects and whatnot)

I was happy with the "acid" portions (done with nothing but a Turing machine, oscillator, filter, and 308 distortion module) and the vocal samples from Clouds, as well as the surprisingly good quality of the Volca Sample drum sounds (I loaded some 909 samples in there).

I was not so happy that the random-ness of the Turing machine caused some unpleasant melodies to spit out which I quickly tried to "fix". Also, the Volca FM is pretty finicky to work with even though the sound is pretty cool I guess.

The most valuable lesson I learned was to not underestimate how much time there is in a 1-hour set! I changed tracks much too quickly (because of nervousness) so I ran out of "prepared" material after 30 minutes and just winged the rest. The funny thing is, I was more comfortable in the last half and think it sounds better than the first 30 minutes.

a live recording of a little impro with a friend atthe rackrash night in vienna last spring, was the first time my colleague was on stage with his stuff (and he got into it quite recently as well) and the first time we did something together at all. "rehearsed" during soundcheck, some nice moments in there :guinness:
