Recording of a performance I did last night at an open stage event. Went ok but didn’t really feel totally in the zone, maybe combination of nerves and not knowing the patch as well. Got great feedback from the audience, everyone seemed to really enjoy it and possible got a gig from it  It’s all improvised from a planned starting point.

Think I’m going to move towards a fixed patch setup for performing so I can really learn all the controls and intricacies, and just play using more intuition.

Excuse the noise in this recording, levels on one effect where set at an incorrect level.
Enjoy!

Hello,

I played my second outing with a modular recently and the event recorded it. It is nerve wracking and quite stressful but it felt pretty nice to have achieved after.

5U modular Patch & Tweak compilation

Post by DaviT » Fri Apr 26, 2019 5:48 am

[bandcamp width=350 height=470 album=2486475084 size=large bgcol=333333 linkcol=ffffff tracklist=false]

Because you will never get the same patch again, I started capturing the patches I made on video and tape. This compilation is the result of the first 10 recordings I did trying to conquer my small 5u Moon Modular system

Hi all,

I started playing with modular synths one year ago and currently doing music for myself as a leisure.

I am working on a live modular techno performance set and i'd like to share it with you.

The guideline of this project is to build something energetic, fully improvised on the moment with a minimalist, easyilly moveable and full eurorack setup.

Here is a 25min capture of practicing in my studio.

Critics and advices are welcome.
Thanks.

Nicolas.

Really enjoyed this, thanks for sharing. My only gripe was that when you dialled the resonance/filter right back down at about 07:03 and the punchy beat kicked back in, I wanted that re-entry to hit harder - maybe a shorter attack on the lead or otherwise less liquidy. Sounding good though man.

Nice. What's the basic signal flow here? What are you using to get such sustain on those pad hits?

VM, thanks you for taking the time to listen. I really apreciate your advice.
Maybe the sidechaining was a bit too much "pumping". I'll try to work on my re-entries.
Thanks !

Live performance at Henry's Cellar Bar Open Stage, 27th May 2019

Had an issue with monitoring so didn't really go exactly as planned. Felt kinda out-of-control, but just had to go with the flow and get into it. Got some really positive feedback, so must've managed to hold it together. It's all part of the journey :-)

Great job! :goo:
My only advice (but it's a matter of personal taste): a bit too much delay/reverb/long release, especially in the low end. It can make the sound muddy for a highly rythmic track, but it very controlled doses it is a great add.

Here is my first contribution:

It's 10 tracks of live sets that I've done over the past few months. No audience, but this is all 100% live, and I hope to one day get skilled enough that I don't have to trim the ends off of my recordings. Each track is mostly generative, but with some song structure also, I like using a lot of LFOs and trigger sequencers to make melodies.

Here’s a half modular set I did last year in Hackney. Visuals are by me too. The dancing lady was not part of my act.

She is on one!
You need to recruit the dancing lady.
