Davide's modules have a good price and it's possible that you get a discount for buying more than one! Works that way with the ULoop1. If these are priced correctly they'll end up in every case.
richard wrote:So, I am imaging this idea could form the basis for a more complex instrument. As a controller: ten strips - 5 for each hand flat on the table which could be used to play/control a whole modular.

But also, if each strip produced a gate at the end of playing its sequence it could trigger the next and it could also be a kind of complex phrase sequencer/envelope generator kind of thing.

hmmmm....
+1 on the EOR but I don't see any room for it; and I like having this at 4HP, it's beautiful and handy. Maybe something could be patched with a comparator, but I do agree with both this and more than 4second recording time. Amazing little bugger ain't it?

One other idea would be to have the Gate double up as a Record Gate in instead of a Trigger in, or even as a Playback in. Don't know how much of assistance that would be to what you have in mind, but it's a step towards that direction without altering the physical module.

PS: You'd need your thumbs to push the record button! I'm flipping mine to have the record button down.

That is the intent.
We are going to release a 'precision' information soon. It depends on how much fine is the timing that we can manage. Few msec out and you can get sync problem in few masures.
The ideal would be a 'REC' input and a 'PLAY' input, in this way you can 'retrigger' the 'animation' at each measure..... But we have no space for that!
Maybe in a future release we can use that stereo jack....

Doesn't the Gate input serve as a Play input when triggered? Another possibility would be to shorten the strip and add a couple of jacks. Not that I mind it as is, just sayin'

If there was a reset input that would be awesome.

A 1-shot trigger/loop option of the recorded cv would be great too but in 4hp it is looking awesome as it is

I think it's fine as is.

I imagine using several of these as a control surface. Frankly, if there was a cheaper version, with no recorder at all, I'd probably prefer that design.

Very, very cool. Have had 4hp to fill in a little 6U system that's just been waiting for something like this.

WIN.

First feedback from the bench:

The thing is alive! :bacon: :bacon:
Output is out and blinkenlights blinks!

So far, so good.

As far as this module technically does not have a panel, I think it will be produced really fast!

Ok, the weekend is arriving, I will probably make some more interesting video.
I was thinking also to have a video synth edition, three slider, one with RED leds, one with GREEN leds, and one with BLUE! :)))))

Well, personally I'd love to see something that would go nicely with the black panel; red or purple come to mind. Any price estimate for these yet?

Personally, don't tell anyone, LEDs ought to be RED !
In this case, to follow the monochromatic panel the LEDs were indicated as white but we had those blue on hand and we mounted those on the proto panels! I just love to imagine a big modular with several LS1 dancing in the dark modulating the beast....

Regarding the price, I have yet to define but I'm expecting something around 60€.... consider a +/- 20% for now... :)
Discounts apply for multiples and for the bundle with the upcoming LP1lightplane!

Cheers!
