I received the LS1 today. :sb:
They work as advertised, and jesus, the LEDs are bright.
I have the pulp logic ribbon next to it, and there is no comparison, LS1 is like alien tech compared to a normal ribbon. It's so smooth and fluid. :bacon:

Only downside are the mounting holes, i use M3 strips and have trouble mounting them. Be it 1st or 2nd hole from the edge, it doesn't fit.
Gladly 84HP are 85HP in reality so i can fit them using the spare HP, resulting in gaps of 0.5 HP. :sadbanana:

I had exactly the same thoughts: It's the second brightest module I own, right after the 4ms PEG. Looks epic! But might be troublesome in a live situation.
And the same issue with the rails:
I also use M3 strips (doepfer and acidlab cases), and the drilling seems to be exactly in the middle between two hole positions.

maybe one can widen the drilling with a dremel - if no circuit path is next to the hole.

apart from that: the looping function is really cool. you can even tap sloppy rhythms ;-) i didn't try the gate-in mode yet though.

This is exactly what Davide suggested me this morning by email.
I have an idea, as the panel is FR4 you can easily file off some material. There are no traces in that part of the pcb...
I'll make it on mine and then send you some pics!
Didn't get the pics yet, but i told him it's currently not an urgent issuefor me , as i have that spare HP in my skiff.

thanks for the info, that's good to know. i'll try this once HP are an issue again. i've lots of space at the moment, since one bigger module is out for repair.

yes the looper is fun, highly flexible performance tool. Makes the LFO's a bit redundant in a compact system.

I have 4 of them next to each other, i nearly have to wear sunglasses in the dark

I look forward getting a LP1 as well. Two parameters at the fingertip and loopable as well :sb:

Hello everyone!
Thanks for loving the LS1 !!!!
I did not took the pics of the filed PCB, I should send it tomorrow morning, but I confirm that with a small file you can easily remove 1.5mm of PCB without compromising the module. I don't advise using a dremel unless you have a very firm hand!
Instead of placing the hole centered on the 7.5mm that the standard tells, we put the hole to the left of 7,5mm :bang:

Ahem..... with the LP1 you have THREE parameters at your fingertip...
X, Y and PRESSURE :nana:

I am playing right now with TWO LP1 and you can basically control a very complex patch with your two hands in a very limited space..... I think that LS1+LP1 could fulfill a 105HP skiff for FREAKING control!

Ok guys, for the people low on HP space I made some pictures this morning.
To solve the hole positioning quirk you have to use a 'rat tail' file like the one in the pic:

Image

You have to file about 1.5mm of PCB. In that zone there are NO traces so just be careful to not over-thin the external part of the PCB (tough FR4 is sturdy enough to resist to some degree of abuse). This is the result:

Image

And this is the final result. I put the module near to a Doepfer one that IS the standard...

Cheers!

:tu: thanks Davide for the detailed instructions.

Wasn't aware the LP1 senses the pressure as well. pure dope it will be :bacon:
