Maybe we can put all together here now, I had the same confusion and have to look in the old files. At the end I never build one, because I bought a PB2. So which parts are still confusing?

i think the 3 oddballs are:
  • - large circle w/ 3 connections: coil
    - diode/cap: varactor/varicap
    - square spiral: ???
coil and varicap are suppositions that have previously been posted, but not confirmed that i know of, and no specific value or partnumber that i've seen. no idea on the 3rd.

The square spiral is a inductor, you can see it with a cap in parallel on top of this thread, thats from the Nabra Yahoo-group about the "Radio Zither": I think I also figured out what the squarish spiral thing. Well, I saw what it is on the board. It's a blue cylinder. It's about the size of an Electrolytic Cap, but it's solid blue, and appears to be plastic. One is labeled (on the top) "10 mH", and the other is "1 mH". Yes, These are coils (inductors). And the H is for Henries (i.e. 10mH = 10 mili henries) the unit for inductance Don't know from which text I copied this: Coil (= Inductor), 1mH (Deerh) sometimes with a 22pF in parallel
Large circle with 3 connections: also in the radio zither, but there are different versions of that RZ too: my picture of one of the circuits does not fit to the paper circuit I have, anyway, here's the pic, the circle should be that yello copper thing in the edgesImage
Diode/cap: Is there a picture and in which deerhorn is it where?

I'm very happy to see so many new paper circuit pictures on muffwiggler in the last year or so

it will help in the future
thank you

Great! Do you have audio/video of these paper circuit beauties in action?

Unfortunatey not. It's as far as I know from a workshop in Berlin from the times, where I was always there, but did not know Ciat Lonbarde :bang:
That's what I found on the Internet, and it shows the parts very good...

Digging this back up... In case somebody has successfully built a paper circuit Deerhorn and wants to talk about it :sb:

The main products of China's PCB industry have been turned from single panel and double-sided board to multi-layer board, and China's PCB industrial structure is being gradually optimized and improved.

I'm still building mine but that top left is a trimming capacitor. Peter uses these values from mouser:
659-GYC40000
or
659-GYC20000

Here's a pic on my Instagram

The square spiral is indeed an inductor - 1mH and 10mH

Nice!
So are you done with it? I'd be really curious to hear/watch some videos

No, not yet, this one is a pig to make without knowing exactly the parts to use. I put 1mH and 10mH inductors in there based on info in other threads, but getting no response. It's made, but I can't get it to work properly. I can get sound from it but the photoresitors sensors part, doesn't work. I think it's down to specific inductor parts and tuning.

Ah! Good that I have a big Rollz5 project to finish! Keeps me out of more rabbit holes :hihi:
But I'll be coming back to this one...

Indeed - I have a lot of paper circuits that I transferred to PCBs and have worked my way through them. Deerhorn is the only one I can't crack. Currently having fun with the Spikering being pinged by Rollz.

BTW - I have transferred the 3 Solar Sounders (Mourning Dove, Gyuto Monks and Trains at Night) to PCB. PCBs prototypes arrive next week which I will be adding to this for sale list.

How about adding a complete fourses of two fourses modules and the intersection part? I started building one on paper but sadly never got around to finish it. I think a pcb version would be much easier to build. Thanks for all your work mudlogger! :tu:

No progress. I put this on the side and worked on the other circuits. The Deerhorn is the only circuit I can't get a handle on due to lack of part value info. I emailed Peter and he basically said he couldn't remember and that I was "on my own" with troubleshooting. The only person I would say that could crack it would be Pugix
