FADE 1.1 Issue

Post by veets » Mon Dec 23, 2019 6:01 am

I successfully built a FADE from a v1.1 PCB. It's such a useful module that I decided to build two more (also v1.1). Unfortunately neither is working correctly.

Here are the symptoms for problem module 1:
  • LED stays green regardless of fader or switch position
  • When output is set to 10v, fader changes output from 10v to 9v
  • When output is set to 5v, fader changes output from 5v to 4.5v
Here are the symptoms for problem module 2:
  • LED stays light red/orange regardless of fader or switch position
  • Regardless of jumper setting, switch or fader position, output remains -1.8v
Here is what I did to troubleshoot:
  • reflowed all joints
  • checked the values of all of the ICs
  • made sure the polarized components are connected appropriately

I suspect these symptoms will point to obvious problems with my build that someone more knowledgable than I will quickly discover.

Any and all advice is welcome.

So much for my troubleshooting skills. I took the opportunity to reflow all of the joints on both modules. Module 1 is now operational. Turns out I failed to solder one of the pins on the fader. Module two is still not operational. :bang:
