wow & flutter tape warble example

Post by 22tape » Sat Mar 21, 2015 9:46 pm

Hey folks. I know, I get it-- Wow & Flutter can do crazy delay modulations. Which is great :guinness:

But does anyone know of any demos/examples of lesser crazy stuff? Not where the machine is eating the tape, but a more realistic old tape delay warble? I can't seem to find any subtle examples.

And I've searched all over the forums and I can't seem to find any confirmation about what the max delay time is. Is it indeed 1 second? Thanks peeps! :bananaguitar:

I made a pretty mild tape warble demo recently on YouTube with the wow stompbox

Yes it can be done
The max delay is not 1 second ;)

Beatles, Here Comes The Sun. Not the usual wow and flutter but more interesting I think. There's a very simple Moog track that warbles and jerks just enough to make it intriguing. For years I thought it was a great example of quirky modulation. Turns out to have been added at Abbey Road by putting a piece of sticky tape on the pinch roller of the tape machine.
