Mutable Instruments Rings

Post by bobbcorr » Tue Dec 08, 2015 1:06 pm

Just officially announced with a variety of posts on Facebook.

"Rings brings physical modelling synthesis to your Eurorack system, from a more modular angle than Braids’ models or Elements. Instead of trying to be a complete instrument, Rings focuses on the key ingredient, the resonator, ready to be excited by envelope clicks, trigger pulses, granular noise or any other audio source produced by the rest of your system."

Official webpage: http://mutable-instruments.net/modules/rings

Video of the Rings resonator in action:

A whole raft of great demos by thelizard aka The February Thaw:

Congratulations to Olivier and the whole MI team!

Amazing module. My favorite release this year.

Thanks for sharing my sound demos! That link doesn't work though. Here's a fixed one:

No, Elements doesn't do string synthesis, but it won't be a lot of work to add Rings' string synthesis models to Elements.

Also it doesn't cover Elements exciter section which is a great thing in itself.

Here's a feature jam -

Up my street, want!
I know the Damping affects decay but is there anything in the module that'll sort out the attack, seems a shame to run it through an envelope and vca...?

That would be so awesome! Rings sounds amazing, but it would be hard to make space for both Rings and Elements (which I already have) in my rack, so if some of Rings could be programmed into Elements, that would make me so happy!

Is this something that will be officially available from MI as a firmware update for Elements?
