Yes me too.
I would dearly love to build this sequencer

You're welcome M8E. Ryk only announces on Electro-Music but agreed for me to let Wigglers know.Is everyone's interest that he has as many buyers as possible.

Also Julian has designed a panel before and was ready to update it. Also am really hoping that Whoop John makes the control pcb he was ready to do so there is a minimum of wiring.

Should be Telex time.

I'm still here. If ryk does not do a control PCB, I suspect John will do so.

Thanks for keeping me in the loop too.
I'll try to check the electro-music forum as often as I can.
Is there a link I can follow ?

Good point - here it is for others:

If you comment on the e-m thread it should send you an email (depending on preferences) when there is a further message on the thread.

Julian - Good news. And am happy to likewise put on the E-M thread that your high quality panels are available.

Anyone know if multiple 185s can be chained?

I think they can, but not certain.

I have messaged with Ryk the designer about this and he also did say that with the way it is designed there is no point in having more than 8 steps.

Sorry I am locked out of my account at the moment and can't check my messages to be more specific. I hope to be able to get access soon.

If not, I suppose a switch can always be used, but it would be nice to have the feature.

Weird that he feels there is no point in more than 8 steps, seems like the perfect little modular sequencer :D

As Ryk said:

"Hi

I thnk for 16 steps it would be better to modify the design to accomodate that
rather than trying to chain two together.
Although it would need different firmware and circuit modification.

But please bear in mind this seq is designed as a kind of anti-16 step Tangerine Dream type sequencer !

It is aimed at creating more rythmically complex sequences, and with that in mind it can be used to create a seqeunce with upto 64 pulses rather just 16 of an ordinary sequencer, albeit with only 8 uniquely individual voltages."

Some news on 185 Sequencer posted by Ryk on Electro-Music at the weekend (and all the info that I know at this stage):-

Hi

Thanks for all the PM's of interest.
2nd prototype is now complete and testing !

This new version has a lot more functionality than the original, and
is consequently a more complex build.

So this version will most likely be offered as a full kit, for ease of build.

Wow. Great news. From the photo it appears that this is in eurorack format. Any
possibility of 5U or a 5U faceplate to suit? Either way I am still in.

So many modules, so little time.

HI

It is a 'modular' design, wher the main pcb is a duaghterboard to the panel PCB.

So I will be offering in several panel formats

(duplicate post deleted)

So the v2 PCB is available for Euro and comes with a panel daughterboard = no wiring.

Also Ryk is planning to supply full Kits.

Hi djthopa

Will keep Muff's updated & Hoping to hear that testing finished and the price of a kit soon.

But advise you to go over to Electro-music and drop Ryk a pm to reserve a kit

Hi

Still working out the price.

It will be a full kit:

19 slide switches
1 rotary switch
12 pots
12 knobs
1 panel pcb
1 main pcb
1 panel
plus 'special components'

So will probably be in the £200 price range.

I'm hoping I will have funds to grab one of these kits when they are ready.

Leaner and Meaner Ryk 185M for Eurorack

Post by Ayab » Sun Oct 06, 2019 10:02 am

Hi woodster

To be clear I am just letting the MW forum know about this project designed by ryktnk who has a thread over in the diy section of the electro-music forum. To reserve a kit go over to the E-M forum and send him a PM

Specify which panel format you will need - (Euro or 4u, 5u or even Roland 100m format)

ryktnk has completed the design, built up a pcbs and is now testing.

His sequencer is based on the Roland 100m 185 but with many extra functions. The previous version of ryktnk's M185 inspired the Intellijel Metropolis: In Inntellijel's own words "We worked out an agreement with Ryk earlier this year to create an the only official Eurorack adaptation of his brilliant sequencer design. It has taken many months to procure all the special parts and the design has already gone through several hardware revisions."

And now ryktnk has updated his m185 and it is available for Eurorack so it is leaner and meaner. I don't know what the extra functions are yet but will let the forum know as soon as ryk posts over on E-M

Kits do push the price up a bit but £200 for all the parts (and nearly impossible to find switches) including the preprogrammed pic is difficult to argue with!

Hi

Thanks for the props !

For the record there never was a 'Roland' M185, it was a 'RYK' M185.

I spent a lot of effort on the panel design, paint, surface finish, and
original knobs, so that it looked very Roland, perhaps too close . . .

Cheers

Hi Ryk

Good to see you over here on Muff Wiggler

Sorry that I confused some of the builds of your modules for Roland. Maybe a flattering mistake!

Looking forward to seeing your new panel designs.

Great you are still on the road with the project ryk! got one of your earlier versions. Have been using it for at least 6-7 years! Moving slowly to the dark side ... building ST32 and other 32 bit driven modules...

The latest news from Electro-Music. It is coming soon! :sb: :bananaguitar:

Thanks for the interest.

Euro should be ready in the new year early January, just
finalising the design for the panels.
Roland probably February.

Here’s a Euro work in progress with Perspex temporary panel.
