Synth Repair other than X-Tended in Berlin?

Post by listentoaheartbeat » Fri Oct 04, 2019 9:16 am

Hi everyone,
any alternatives to X-Tended for synth repairs in Berlin? X-Tended are asking for 800€ to repair a voice board and the keybed of my friend's Juno-106, which seems excessive.
Cheers!

strange - it must be the keybed that's pricey?

they fixed a voice chip on my MKS-7 back in 2013, with a bit of surgery on the PCB (which I'd butchered while desoldering the voice chip); I can't remember the exact price but it really can't have been more than a couple hundred euro

(yes I realise this doesn't solve your problem... FWIW there wasn't many other options at the time either)

Anyone care to share their experience with X-tended? I have a Korg MS20 needing a service and ESP fix

I used them twice, and was satisfied on both instances

i often repair stuff extendent dont got fixed, but i decided to dont do that anymore.. because thats just the type of jobs you spend lots on hours to find the problem, and lnly charge for 3 of them because of pitty..

Extendet are more for quick standard repairs that earn money and have werks to get fixed, and not for time consuming stuff in rare vintage units or pro oveenight for pro musicans.

And 800 for a juno is high, but possible when changing all voice chips, recal, new faders, buttons and what else., if you really order a total renovation of a synth where just the spare parts you install, cost over 300.-, its not getting cheaper than 600.-..
However i doubt that they offered a total refurbishment for "just" 800.-, usually they cost twice..

And actually i wouldnt suggest a total refurb anyway, as they probably dont offered one.
most faders and switches can be revitalized since its mostly beeing unused what destroys theese synth, than actual wear of the "moving" parts.
