Hi
I need a 74HC04 for my second midiDAC and its backordered until February by farnell, and i wish to avoid a 12 quid postage from mouser.
I had planned temporarily to use an smd version of 74HC04 with a SOIC to DIP14 adapter but pin spacing is for breadboard not IC socket as i had expected when i got them from Bitsbox. The 8 pin adapters they sell fit fine but 14,16, do not.
I happen to have some old new 74AC04PC stock never opened - probably from my first electronic fumblings in late 1980s. Maybe compatible though the latter has a tighter source voltage range around 5v , im not sure of current reqs.

what do you think?
HexInverter substitution -also midiDAC related.

That should work just fine. AC are faster but I don't think this should be a problem on the later midiDAC boards.Pav wrote:I happen to have some old new 74AC04PC stock never opened - probably from my first electronic fumblings in late 1980s.
