It’s polarizing for sure, regardless hearing that album as a teen is a revelation...

Picking from the hat: John Zorn.

Alternatively, there's a shit-ton of stuff if you look outside the US/Europe. How about Fela Kuti as a starting point?

Listened to a bunch of Zorn growing up. Talked one of my students I to doing a school report on Fela. Actually haven't listened to either in years. Thanks for the reminder.

Can't believe I forgot this one, a seminal guitar album that unwittingly spawned a billion sound-a-likes. Criminally underrated band

Thank you for turning me onto this. Have you heard Nuno’s other album Mr. Wollogallu?

It’s quite moving at times, took me a little while to get beyond the first couple tracks... anyways, thanks again!

Ceremony, The Miraculous and Dead Magic by Anna Von Hausswolff. Pipe organs, guitars and fantastic vocals.
Any Gazelle Twin, the music gets more esoteric with each release.

If you want very minimalistic music then check out Richard Chartier/Pinkcourtesyphone
