Benjolin PCB
I've recently stumbled across this noisemaker, and I'm interested in building one. I've downloaded necessary files from electro-music.com (Benjolin PCB layout for the real DIY), and am looking into etching my own board.
Frankly, I'd prefer to avoid this step. Does anybody here have a burning desire to etch a couple of boards?

Re: Benjolin PCB
I’ve had some of Forestcaver’s 603 smd panel+pcbs fabbed up - I’d be happy to send you a set if you cover shipping.
Not sure if you are comfortable with parts that small...
Edit: traded all my spare panels+pcbs. I might do another batch but it’ll be at least a month before I have them in hand (feel free to PM me if interested, worst that can happen is I say no or that it’s going to take a while

That’s very nice of you, but no, I don’t want SMD. My old eyes have enough trouble with through-hole parts!

Re: Benjolin PCB
I totally understand; my eyes are pretty good for up close work, but even with magnification 603 gives me some trouble due to my being quite a bit less dextrous with one hand than the other.
Hope you find someone to help you out!

Re: Benjolin PCB
in line with Rob's wishes of keeping this a DIY community project - is there a cad file that i can send to a pcb printing place - that uses standard throughhole components?

Re: Benjolin PCB
After starting this thread a few weeks ago, my friend Dave and I decided to do some laser printed toner transfer boards.
After way too many failed experiments, he finally got two boards that looked worth soaking in acid.
We decided to go with those, one of which was quite nice, the other, a bit rougher, needing some rework. Assembled them both this morning, and both are working.
Very weird device!

Re: Benjolin PCB
Rob specifically asks any of us doing layouts NOT to share the CAD files because once that is done, no matter the intent to allow individuals to do small runs for themselves (as you've requested), other individuals who DGAF about what Rob wants will try to mass produce them. It's pretty much unavoidable.wuff_miggler wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2020 7:46 pmin line with Rob's wishes of keeping this a DIY community project - is there a cad file that i can send to a pcb printing place - that uses standard throughhole components?

Re: Benjolin PCB
I can only speak personally but, for my SMT pcbs, I specifically asked Rob’s permission (which he very kindly gave) before uploading the CAD (Eagle-format) files onto GitHub.elmegil wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2020 3:15 pmRob specifically asks any of us doing layouts NOT to share the CAD files because once that is done, no matter the intent to allow individuals to do small runs for themselves (as you've requested), other individuals who DGAF about what Rob wants will try to mass produce them. For more info (including dates permission was given, etc), have a look on my github eg

Re: Benjolin PCB
Fair enough. I think that had crossed my radar before and I understand that you had permission, it had slipped my mind when responding here though.
I had no intent to throw shade your way
When I was doing a run 3 years ago, he was still asking not to provide CAD files....
