So I assume the issue is that it sometimes needs a lot of time to load a preset, like several seconds. So probably not directly connected to sequencing presets but just getting more obvious there due to the amount of changes.

:waah:
I'm on v1.6.

Performance of HDmk3 should be identical to sequencing presets on PHmk3.
Here is what it's like for me:

Yes, looks so. I did not get a response from Scott via IME support mail, probably due to end of year festivities.

I will try again on monday.

After more exploration it seems to me that the whole fold and parts of the modulation section randomly shuts down and becomes totally unaccessible after more or less much activity in preset mode. Even the fold knob does not have an effect anymore. After some time without touching anything it randomly sets in again. Also before going back to normal the main pitch knob does not work anymore, but the modulator A pitch knob does directly affect the main pitch...until everything switches back to normal after a minute or so... :hmm:

Is there a way to downgrade the firmware again?
I am still on 1.5 and discovered this bug months ago, what I think is happening is that the outputs (main and aux) get swapped when moving between presets, only when unison is enabled. You’ll notice the main output moves to aux sometimes if you try this out while monitoring both outputs panned hard left and right. I can only recreate the bug with unison enabled, that may be why some are not encountering the problem. I emailed Scott about it back when I noticed it in June but I just stopped using unison to avoid the problem when sequencing or moving through presets.

Try it and let me know if that is what is happening with yours

I have not tried it out yet, but that is what he wrote me in response of a email request. I did not though that it's known since June. Hopefully this does not mean that it is too complicated to fix. I like the unison too much on some patches to leave it and I tend to keep a preset when I like it instead of programming them new again and again.

It’s likely that particular email I sent in June went to spam or was missed because on every other occasion I’ve reached out for support / to report a bug Scott has been responsive and really helpful, and I didn’t bother sending a follow up message that time. I’m just confirming when I personally discovered the issue

i don't think it would, the cyclebox is pretty unique. both are great modules though

Indeed. The Cyclebox is not a dual or complex oscillator, but it makes very silly noises indeed. :fap:

Haha wow. Yeah it’s apples and oranges. I regret selling my Cyclebox from time to time but I found the switches annoying. I could never remember the settings I wanted.

Did I mention I also have a Double Helix nearby :hyper:

Borrowed this module to a friend and doesn't regret, the sonic range is huge and fun to jam

Made a video where it plays my main bassline here

HD3 passes thru two distortion/fuzz pedals + delay, then into Warps (parasite), Malgorythm mk2, Clouds resonator and a touch of reverb.

I haven't read the entire thread so advanced apologies if this was covered;

Anyone with two or more MK3 modules notice that the OLED on the HDMKIII is slightly less sharp (or should I say more dim?) than the PHMK3 and BLMK3?

Just curious if 1) this is adjustable and 2) if it's just my unit or a universal thing...

Thanks!

I got 2x BLMKIII
- HDMKIII
- PHMKIII
and they are all at the same intensity.

also wondering why in operator A/B Follow mode the pitch knob's minimum is higher than in Free mode. clearly there's no problem getting the FM and phase distortion to work with high frequency spreads (e.g. 1/8, 16x, and extremes of Free mode).

maybe to prevent the operator from "ignoring" pitches that are "too low" when the pitch CV + the operator's own offset pushes the pitch value below the minimum the module will recognize?

(if so I think it would be better for us to manage that ourselves with the operator's pitch offset knob)
I actually wrote IME support about this. They replied that its to keep the freq within its limits, cause there is a limit. I did not reply further that what about the 16x etc in divide mode, and also that i agree with you about we can manage this ourselves, just cut the frequencies out or something.
Its also a bit of a pita why you cant just have the whole frequency spectrum in one sweep on all knobs. This octave up down business is great, but could be on top of having the opportunity to sweep the whole range.
Half the point of fm for me is to have extreme frequencies and sweeping through them with dramatic results. The shapeshifter can do this fine (plus also go lfo or high as a kite frequencywise).

So why. Why not? Seems so easy to fix :)
Hertz donut. Extreme oscillator.
Come with the extreme 🤠

Hhhm OK thanks for letting me know. I guess it's not a "real" issue since the module works fine, but it's odd nonetheless. Cheers!

Got one of these the other day, and just wanted to say - I'm getting the sweetest sounding FM sounds I've gotten out of any oscillator I've ever had out of this thing. It's lovely. Great job, IME!

Here is HD3 with DA2. So flexible, dynamic, and expressive. They are playing the "stereo groove with two trumpets", of which one part is often processed by OTO Machines BIM.

(New to me, BIM is an audio delay that is fine and nummy-sounding; especially if you fondly remember the AMS DMX 15-80, Deltalab Effectron, and Lexicon PCM era of digital delays, which I do).
