Bought the four pack and built them. DB, SN, and HH all work, but I can't get any audio out of CP.

I narrowed the problem down to the back PCB. Output stuck on -10V on Mordax. Any ideas?

Can you post some high-res photos of the board?

Took me a while to get some pictures up, but here they are. Front and back view of the "Back PCB".

Have you tried swapping the teensy to another module just to make sure it is okay?

Edit: also would be good to see how the soldering went beneath the teensy.

I built all four. Def check the teensy, although idk how that would pin the output to -10V.

I did forgot to solder the teensy on one of them. I don't think they actually tell you to solder the teensy in the instructions.

Okay, I switched the teensy out to a working module and it's fine. I checked connectivity on the black plastic brick thing with the pins and everything is connected just fine. Looked at all the soldering and it looks okay. switched out one of the IC's and its okay. I left the other one because it doesn't look bad at all. I'm wondering if the regulator might be bad? Maybe that could explain the -10V? Not sure. Any other ideas? I might just order another pcb set if I can't get it to work.

sounds! I have the Prok CP coming soon. Sorry to be a broken record, but the github editor can be used via usb connection to teensy to change which instrument is loaded?

I’d be surprised if any of the components were damaged .. unless you recall leaving your iron on any spot particularly long. The instructions do warn against that, as I recall. Only things I can think of are to go over that back board with a magnifying glass and look for shorts.. and if you don’t find any, maybe try contacting Thonk? I think they offer troubleshooting help, but not positive. Not sure how to reach prOk...

Good luck!

I don’t recall seeing a way to reflash the teensy to a different instrument in the software. I believe it was limited to live patch tweaking and saving/loading presets. Will double-check this weekend...

On a side note... I really hope prOk comes up with a better way to load from the sdcard. Not a fan of the “hold down a button at power-up” method.

both of those are supposed to be fixed in the upcoming(?) FW.. the "hold down button" thing is especially bad i think, if you have several in various places of the rack it's not exactly optimal either...

Are the prok modules identical in hardware? Can you flash the BD as a SN for example?
If only one was available to buy can you just change it into one of the others?

At least fully closing Thonk for Coronavirus is opening up time soon for this...

Go for the smallest card possible, ideally from Kingston or SanDisk.

Hello everyone,
I've got a Prok HH and BD and both are very noisy. Someone postet a Soundcloud link in this thread, thats exacly what I have.
So i did a little bit of testing on my modules:
Fisrt of all, I normaly use a poor Meanwell PSU and thought that would be the reason for my noisy drums. But since I've got a lab Powersupply(<2mV ripple) I used this to power the modules and it's exactly the same.
Having a look on my scope, you can see the ouput of a long decaying bassdrum, sounds very sine-like, with heavy noise:
DS1Z_QuickPrint7.png
As you can see there are voltage steps of 100mV. This is definetly more that the 12Bit of that DAC can do.
(This is what a 12bit DAC could do in perfect conditions: 10Vpp/2^12 = 2,44mV)
Is there any trouble in the software?

thanks, Cs

bump bump. don't want to hold down a button while I power on my case to get custom presets. What do people do who have the four pack of these modules? Tape their cats to it?

they think about to sell these modules. they are in alpha state and not very usable at the moment. creating new sounds makes no sense at all... and what i dont like too is that they dont give us the hex files.

Mine are next to each other and I have 4 fingers (and a thumb) on each hand. It's almost like we were designed for these modules... ;)

But the need to hold the button is changing.

Quite handy for powering the system... and counting the months.
