More Saturday Serge exploring smile

Serge Custom Shop Panel + Field Recordings + Eventide Space Reverb.

The Serge provided a kind of "electronic heartbeat", which inspired me to pair up with some iPhone recordings I did walking around the Pike Street Market last year - pics from the same time/walk-through.

I'll try..... basically for this patch:

1 - external audio into a Wave Multiplier (middle section of module - which helps to attenuate & amplify certain frequencies) then into Res EQ input

2 - Res EQ output into a VCA type module for attenuation of feedback (I used the top section of a Wave Multipler for this patch) - then patch it back to the Res EQ input

3 - Res EQ out to mixer

4 - start w/ EQ set flat

5 - turn up Res EQ input level 90% to 100%

6 - turn up the external audio - adjust the middle section of Wave Multiplier as needed

7 - slowly turn up the top section of the Wave Multiplier until you just start to hear feedback - use this section for maintaining control of feedback

8 - boost/cut the different bands of the Res EQ - use this section for "tuning" the feedback

Hope this helps Guinness ftw!

Sweeet - thanks a lot for the detailed walkthrough. I am off to studio for some feedback afternoon.

That's really great. You obviously had a bit of a blinder that Saturday with so much creative output.

I think this is also one of the best videos I've seen for a while. Tbh it gets a little boring just watching a disembodied hand tweaking some knobs no matter how cool the audio is. The fact that you included some of the shots from the real world place where you did the field recordings you were using in this piece added a nice extra dimension to proceedings.

Interesting that you also used the Wave Multiplier in your Res Eq patch. You've probably already heard my feedback patch I did here:

This is somewhat more brutal than yours so shows different aspects of what you can do with the res Eq in a feedback patch.

Keep up the good work.

Nice Patch!
how did you take the audio out into the Wave Mult direct with a 1/8inch to Banana cable or did you go through some grounding proceedure?
When I spoke to Rex about taking Audio from my field recorder direct into the Wave Mult he said I had to make a custom ground cable that connected from Audio Recorder Ground to PSU ground.
I've not yet made this cable... I guess if Rex recommends, its prudent, but just wondering what you did.
Cheers

Thanks for the kind words @Dave77 & @KNYST smile

Thanks for sharing @theboddy, yes definitely a bit more "brutal" as you say . . . but awesome!

@fowl - on my panel there is a converter section: 1/8 to banana jack - so I just jacked out from the iPhone -> converter -> the wave multiplier. Actually getting audio into Serge-land is easy- whether you DIY a grounded mult or use something like a MakeNoise Format Jumbler.
