Anyone running Volta in Numerology successfully??

Post by doctorvague » Thu Jun 11, 2009 9:22 am

Just spent $1K to get Volta up and running with my modular. I was planning on using Numerology to drive it for obvious reasons but can't get it to work at all. Volta works fine with Digital Performer. I'm running Numerology 2.1rc5 standalone on a G5 with a 24io interface. In Volta right under each colored icon insert (the main work area) there's an output destination - in DP you click and it's a pulldown to select an audio out. In Numerology you click and it does nothing and you can't change anything. Tried various outputs, routing and settings to no avail. I'm still trying things, but running out of ideas.

anyone?
Phil

Numerology doesn't support ramps or plug-ins with sidechain outs yet, so Volta will not work inside it.

You can use DP to host Volta and route the MIDI data from Numerology into DP, though.

Thanks a bunch - I missed those posts and should have searched better.
Anyway, that answers that - for now. I often record the MIDI output to DP anyway to record and use it for overdubs and later processing with DP's MIDI plugs or just layer sounds, 'just in case'. So that isn't so bad of a workaround for now, but it will be nice to have Volta right in Numerology at times, I'm thinking...

I know Jim is philosophically aligned with the whole modular concept and what Volta is about, so I'm sure he'll get it going at some point. IMO the guy's pretty amazing as a one-man show.

great having you Stretta, it's really appreciated. As I learn more about Volta I hope to share ideas, videos, etc and not just pick-yer-brains!

Cheers
Phil

Just got things going in Numerology -- sidechain input, multiple outputs, Numerology CV to AU Ramp parameters, etc. for both Volta and Silent Way. I should have a beta out in a couple days...

Cheers,
jim
