easel iProgram Card

This is so cool:

http://buchla.com/todd-bartons-overview ... sic-easel/

Really interesting to see if they allow you to 'just' make connections and store settings or also open it up to allow algorithmic programming or other interesting things you could be doing with this.

Just watching Todd's video. Looks great and I really hope that BEMI have something similar planned for the 200e - just a simple librarian would suffice. The current preset management system is not exactly user friendly or cheap.

i wonder if it will support the ipad routing stuff so that you could sequence it with one of any number of various ipad apps.

Could it be controlled via a plugin in for example Ableton Live,or only with the Ipad application?

This just in from the BEMI team "Everything can be controlled by OSC, so any app that can send OSC messages could control the card." Max/msp sends OSC, I don't know if Ableton's Max for Live does.

Best wishes,
Todd

that's nice about the OSC! it will be fun to play with. I didn't think I wanted one but I kind of think I am going to end up getting one now. does anyone know when they're supposed to be available?

Oh my!

I took the plunge this week into Lemur (needed to make a panel for my TG-33).

Everything in Lemur puts out both midi and OSC.

Custom Lemur control surface for the Easel? :woah:

Im curius about the technology behind this. Is it just a bunch of digitally controlled VCA's and switches?

If you made a "breakout" box for this, combined with Lemur, you could actually controll anything with it.

As far as I've been told, the program card uses variable current to set values for the various functions. There's a positive rail on the card, and when you use resistors you're altering the current. So the i gizmo is probably using a microprocessor to output varying voltages, which get converted to their respective currents before going into the Easel.

RKilman - thanks for that link

The iPad app can be used to route MIDI note on/off messages as
well as the note pitch from any to the 218 pulse and main CV outputs
respectively from iPad apps that support MIDI output.

So that's it for BEMI MIDI

What about OSC is there any mapping to things like the 208 sliders? Obviously the iProgaram card can do it,

If you scroll down, there’s a Max patch for doing OSC control via the iprogram card. I’ve never seen anyone use it but i’ve always been curious
