Anyone have a 200e and an Easel? Except for portability are there other reasons to have the Easel if one has a good sized 200e system? Does the Easel make any other range of sounds that the 200e can't?

Would someone put together a patch of a 200e system that tries to duplicate the Easel ?

- the Easel VCO's are beautiful sounding analog oscillators.

- incredible FM/cross mod sounds with these VCO's

- the Easel Reverb is awesome... and deep. Some people have complained about how the overall volume dips as you increase depth.... but I just leave more headroom in the main volume out... its as easy as increasing volume as you add reverb

- the analog sequencer

- sequencer as a clock divider

- the preamp for external processing = awesome!

- audio feedback loops REALLY sound excellent... very controllable

- 5x simultaneous Random Voltage outputs

- Mod VCO as a balanced modulator/a.m./f.m source is fantastic

- the Program card option allows for further patch configuration exploration

- Mod VCO choice of LFO or Audio range = wide variety of sounds/control options

- the dual LPG's can be configured to work together as a high pass filter

- the inverter can also be used as a 10V CV source

- the inverter allows for WIDE range CV fun

- nearly all CV functions have an associated attenuator/slider

etc......

Here's something I put together awhile back which is close but no cigar:

I'm sure other folks would have additions or substitutions -- but this would get you close. The real beauty of the Easel is it is designed as a fully functioning "instrument"
and the way the 218 integrates with the 208 is, in my humble opinion, quite organic and musical.
Oh, one thing missing in my graphic is a 225e or 225h for midi in :-)

Oh Yes! I just now saw Adam's response: Everything Adam said! w00t

thanks, I'll play with this patch ... I may have to go for an Easel, maybe it would arrive by Christmas?

There is an exact equivalent "patch" in my blog:

once there scroll down about 3/4 of the way to see the "self-triggered 200e patch" compared to the Easel patch. cheers!

thanks .. that's great

Adam, your list would make me order an Easel right away. SlayerBadger! w00t
Very nice, perfectly covers my point of view.

I don't own a 200e system, only the easel, but based on the many 200e recordings I've heard so far, my take is that you cannot do easel sounds with 200e. The most obvious difference is in the OSC section I think.

With nothing plugged into the input of the inverter, the output is putting out a static 10V.
