Pulse Emitter posted this link here somewhere:

http://www.myspace.com/pdxnoise (Portland OR noise etc. calendar of events)

It would be great if we had more of these posted here for other places. San Francisco, Seattle, LA, for example.

you need links for whitehouse and nurse with wound!

(and coil? "constant shallowness leads to evil" is definitely noise).

what about melt banana?

merzbow?

throbbing gristle?

what qualifies as noise?

Well... I was talking more exclusively as noise artists who use synths. Merzbow used to use a Synthi but now is almost exclusively Max MSP, TG are industrial and are one of my favorite bands - but not synth noise.

Whitehouse - to be honest, I hate them - well Philip. Nurse with Wound is great too, but more cut-up/concrete.

The latter half of Constant Shallowness... is absolutely synth based noise/drone (wave folders FTW!). But Coil is not a full out noise project, of course. Same goes for a lot of early industrial bands.

I think you should definitely count early Merzbow, even though he changed!.

Alex, one curious thing is that you refer to synth based noise, but also mentioned doom in the original post? If you're talking Sunn o))) type drone-doom, while synths are often used, it's definitely not synth noise! So maybe you have other bands in mind? Spill it! I wanna hear some synth doom! SlayerBadger!

Ok, ok... I give... Synth doom list coming.

And yes, Coil, Merzbow and TG are all awesome and gravy. The list above was mostly recent "noise" artists who are all killing the synth tunes with maximum prejudice. hyper

Gotcha - and that's awesome, thanks!

Hit me with that sweet synth doom! Rawk!

I am working with a guy on a doomed out black metal project that is yet to be named as well, Berzum style riffing with D/A A/D style synth doom.

Coffee Addiction FTW

Its going to SLAY.
amnesia

Cool, that's good... I know he bought your old one - didn't he??? For a while there he was 100% max, then he was using this crazy noise stick and max.
amnesia
he ended up with my VCS3 in 1994....he then went computer in early late 90/s early 2000 and now is back using both and why not I say:-)
He is also playing drums too lately :-)

Yeah man, neither of us have ever heard ANYTHING like this before. It escapes all the cliche ambient black metal crap. I am rocking my AX80 on these tracks, so I can chord and play "actual" notes. I am using my modular for drones and processing however.

I don't want to sound cocky, but this shit is going to blow peoples heads wide open! If you like BM guys you should check out Frank's band Pagan Hellfire:

man, no mention yet of Bastard Noise??
dudes have bigger and badder home made tube synths than anyone I know
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2302/2507419783_ed024a9ff8_o.jpg
http://www.trogotronic.com/

and according to Mike from F/I/T/H, yes they have lugged around the Flying Fish in a padded crate while in Japan. can you imagine getting that thing on a train there??

theres also Unicorn, Geronimo (could that be considered synth doom?). Torso is a dude who I haven't heard much from but what I have is very much in the style of BN with a doomier vibe. he also has a sludge band called Ventt. 2673 is also a good one to check out for people into that style. did a tour with him last year- absolutely ear piercing. he blew a PA the second night of our tour with his Trogotonic gear.

BN and Unicorn use mostly function and audio generators, not synths. Same goes for Torso - Sandy and I are friends, he lives here in Halifax. He and I played with BN and Unicorn 2 years back, it was fucking intense. Torso has a colab with BN coming up at some point.

Fire In The Head, Control, Morbund, Bloody Minded, Grey Wolves, Prurient are some other great power electronics acts that use mostly synth.

Mike from F/I/T/H is one of my favorite people in the whole world.

I am going to have to update that fucking list I guess.
