its been plugged in for a couple days and i cant really keep my hand on the wall wart transformer for long--its really hot. anyone else have this heat?

Wallwarts are NOT meant to be constantly active most of the time... They will get very hot and in some cases they will melt. I would suggest powering it down when not in use...
the wallwart with my diy kit (while obviously a different one to yours, given my geographical location) also gets fairly warm when in use. i always power it off when i'm not using it. it seems to be a common thing with wallwarts in general though as far as i can tell - i have a few and they all generate varying degrees of heat.
