I've been loving the complete series but Level 7 is easily the best so far:

http://aleksiperala.bandcamp.com/album/the-colundi-sequence-level-7

It's got me heading back down the wormhole of trying to use microtonal tuning using the modular but aside from the Serge TKB or 4 pressure points I can't seem to find any other microtonal controllers to use with the modular.

Does anyone know anything about Aleksi, the equipment he's using (hardware or software) or the mathematical methods he's using for his microtonal tunings? Software seems to be the easiest route but I really don't like spending my evenings at a screen after being stuck in front of one for most of the day at work.

Yea man.. I'm with you.. I'm trying to grab the perspective.. I'm thinking it's like the harmonic overtone series in Pythagoras' work. I have the textbook of harmonics from Hans keyser and I'm looking into it. I emailed them and haven't got any answer.. He's coming to play in Brooklyn on May 1st. I'm going. I gotta check it out live..
ignatius
it's all amazing stuff.. rally just something special.

have you checked out the other parts? they're all available on bleep now.. in high sampling rates if that's your thing..

https://bleep.com/artist/28210

i have a bunch of them in one big play list i let just loop forever some times.

edit: oh damn.. they're all on his bandcamp too!!.. that's rad. i recommend all of them. Guinness ftw!

really great.
mirarimusic
yea i copped them all.. really wanted a wire recording but there were only 10 and sold out in mins.

Anybody have any info on the overtone series he uses? i have Hans Keysers textbook of harmonics and the pythagoras tuning is 128 tones. The lambda as well seems to be similar.

what y'all know? woah

i've only found this:

I have NEVER heard this series... I'm in love!!!!!!

bookmarked! must check. ta

35hz should also be in

did an experiment with pressure points and z3000 some weeks ago with not much success... i'll try again

loving aleksi releases! level 7 is my favourite too

Love this serie, Colundi for everyone !

Maybe it's possible to achieve microtonal tuning and the colundi frequencies with mutable instruments Yarns and this web editor via scala file:

Scala to SysEx conversion
http://scale-editor.appspot.com/

From Yarns manual :
http://mutable-instruments.net/modules/yarns/manual

Tuning systems

TS (TUNING SYSTEM) selects alternative scales and tuning systems. EQ(UAL TEMPERAMENT) is the default choice. JU(ST INTONATION) uses a simple algorithm to adjust each note by a few cents within its equal temperament value to increase consonance with the notes played on the other channels, or the most recently played notes.

PY(THAGOREAN) uses a pythagorean scale, in which all notes’ frequency ratios are expressed as rational numbers (as opposed to powers of 2^-1/2 for equal temperament). EB, E, and EA have these respective notes shifted down by one quartertone.

The settings numbered from 01 to 27 are ragas from the Maihar Gharana – these settings not only affect tuning but also eliminate some notes from the scale to leave only the shrutis belonging to the raga.

The last setting, CU(STOM) uses an octave pitch table which can be sent by SysEx using the MIDI Tuning Scale/Octave Extensions (CA-021/RP-020) of the MIDI standard. This web app can be used to create tunings using the very popular Scala scale description language.

I'll try this when i came back home next week.

That might be the most awesome first post on this forum. OP, thank you for posting this incredibly gorgeous and vast body of music.

Was lucky to see him play live in September (as Colundi Sequence). He actually played a lot more of his Ovuca/Perala sounding older stuff than the Colundi sequence, which was a surprise, but no less enjoyable. Didn't get to see his kit on stage unfortunately!

Read that this morning before work... home now and google bought me here lol. Great read!

Up until now I have not read a great deal about the fundamentals of the sequence itself. I have lately been exploring frequency manifestation through thought, sacred geometry and the conscience in between, this is the icing on the cake... and its techno SlayerBadger!

Liddlepud not sure if this is any help but the Buchla can do micro tonality, 223e can be set up this way as a controller with presets.

I think 4 might be my favorite level. His low frequency sculpting is incredibly surgical. Love this sequence in 10/8 meter:

Truly spiritual stuff, pairs very nicely with fungus Alien
