given how wonderful the new random source 4u offerings have been (nicest in diy IMO) JH's legacy couldn't be in more capable hands. well done Ralf!

Congratulations, this is excellent news for the DIY community.

You are welcome to any help I can give you to speed these designs into availability rather than just being wishful thinking.

It might also be worth giving Oldcrow a shout, as he is hosting one of the archives of Jeurgens old site I believe

Regards

Magman

Excellent news!
A good thing that his designs are coming back to life.

I have built his Schulte compact phasing clone, the Solina chorus, Polymoog Resonator and the Varislope filter and they're really great!

Beautiful boards and well designed. So, at least a bit of him lives on...

Great news!! The Tau Pipe Phaser was the phaser I always wanted to build but was no longer available by the time I got off my ass and started DIYing. :yay:

Bad news: I contacted Olimex regarding the original files and they told me that they have quit the pcb service two years ago and have no archives. :bang:

I called them up anyway and urged to see if they could find any backup / old computer but it seems extremely unlikely that this will lead to anything.

So this really means doing everything from scratch ...

Ralf, pm or email me if you need assistance. Time permitting, I can help rebuild the schematics.

There are some photos of JH PCBs on Bills and Wills synth site.
Might be good enough as a basis to redraw them?

I have a few JH PCBs in my backlog (Triple Chorus, 20-pole Phaser, Varislope Filter/Phaser, Living VCOs, Chorus main & BBD PCBs) that I could scan & post/send to people if that would help. I don't know whether I can commit to actually redrawing them, but I might be able to help.

It's great that nordlead has been able to get this sorted, shame about Olimex not having any backups... :sadbanana:

Thanks a lot, Craig! :tu: :tu: :tu: Just sent you a message ...

synchromesh, it would be quite helpful if you could send me scans (top and bottom) of those boards (except for the Triple Chorus, got those already thanks to LEDman) :guinness: :tu:

I have an unbuilt FS1a frequency shifter (2-board set) that I could scan and send, but it will be a little while before I can do it, as a fair bit of my stuff is in storage (I'm currently decorating the house)

Thanks Ralf for doing this.

cheers,
Dave

BTW, do you run this monster on 12V by any chance?

I can provide scans of the Polymoog Resonator PCB if that helps.

Hahaha! :guinness: I think I've run most of his things on 12V, or rather tried them out to see if it were possible, tinkering I guess you'd call it :hihi: I may have notes, well I should have notes, but finding them and (re)making sense of them is another thing! I've stuck to 15V in the main as it was all ready to go, as it were...

The SOST is incredible, I've got 3 in my system so far!

I guess we'd all better stock up on TDA1022's!

If you redo the Tau Phaser it would be better to not copy the PCB 1:1 IMHO:

1. It has no MOTM connector on board.

I drilled holes to get a MOTM connector in there. Couldn't find the documentation for this online (maybe @home).
2. It is meant for +/- 18 V for whatever reasons with an onboard power supply. I suggest skipping these parts and making it +/- 15 V directly with MOTM connectors.
3. CA3046 are discontinued.
4. SSM2210/LM394/MAT02 are discontinued. You can have a MAT12 for much money or the LS318 from Linear Systems which apart from some announcements seems to be still available in DIP8.
5. Alternatives are:
CA3046: LM3046 in SOIC format (which could help make the PCB much smaller) - Available e.g. @Mouser
SSM2210/LM394/MAT02: MAT12 - Available e.g. @Mouser, LS318 in DIP8, SOIC or SOT-32 (plus TO-71 & TO-78 metal cans) - Available @Micross

Or the THAT 300 chip which I used with converter sockets for one of my Tau Phasers. It has 4 matched pairs instead of 2 and is therefore cheaper than the LS318. - Available @Mouser in DIP or SOIC format (300P14-U or 300S14-U)
6. You might want to contact Bridechamber to sell some PCBs over there (Scott offers panels & kits).
