Author Interview with Dave Rossum
Marco Alpert
The German music website, Amazona.de has just published the first of four weekly installments of an extensive interview with my dear friend (and co-founder of E-mu Systems), Dave Rossum. This segment talks about the founding of E-mu and the early years of the modular system and E-mu's technological contributions to the Oberheim 4-Voice and the Sequential Prophet 5.

Dave Rossum Interview - Part 1

Enjoy!

(Unfortunately (for non-German speakers), it's entirely in German, but here's the Googlish version.)

Thanks. Interesting to know some more back story on rossum and the company.

The second part of Dave's interview is now up at Amazona.de. This one covers E-mu's transition from modular synths to samplers. Fascinating stuff.

Again the Googlish version is here.

OMG. From the 4th interview:

I wonder what kind of modules Re-mu will release in winter.
Is the 2200 VCO module remarkable in functionality or sound ?

I have always wanted their VC Clock module. Potpourri looks useful too.

Interesting, it seems the Pot Pourri is a great utility module. What makes the voltage controlled clock so useful to you, would you be able to double or half time the clock via cv ?

Here is a list of all modules according to Sound On Sound, with 70s prices: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jul00/articles/retrotable.htm

I think you meant the E-mu 2000 modular? ARP did the 2500.
