which dual vca?

Post by 22tape » Thu Aug 28, 2008 5:17 pm

so guys, i'm looking to get a dual vca. the two that i know of eurorack are doepfer's a-132-3 dual linear/exponential vca, and ASol's VCA2.

Anyone have any experience with these? At $119 ASol's seems to be a better value....it also has a level-in control. Doepfer's is listed at $140.

What about the gain/drive on these? i'd love for my vca to have a little bite/overdrive sound to it when pushed.

thanks much!

An A-132-3 is waiting for me at home, so I'll let you know my thoughts on that one tonight or tomorrow.
dress yourself for the public. you now must exit your home and acquire a dental mirror and lubrication!
i recommend a hat, or a helmet. if a helmet, ensure that it is both convincing and unbiased. -citizen mori

ok, fired the 132-3 up and it works as expected. no gain from the input as far as i can tell. i didnt fm it...basically, i just used it to modulate a CV, then as a simple audio vca.
