Teenage Engineering OP-Z

Post by guillaume » Thu Jan 21, 2016 3:11 am

Just teased on Instagram:

Something in between the POs and the OP-1, a successor to the OP-1, or something even more powerful?

Seems like it has a system of flash drives or similar?

Bluetooth adapter for wireless interfacing the OP-1 with the OP-Z?

Im glad something new is coming - are they at NAMM?
Wonder what it is - given how amazing their construction and design is, this looks prototyp-ey. Could it be the digital 4 track recorder people asked em for?

This is about the only thing Im curious about at NAMM. I have no interest in the POs, but the OP-1 is a great product, so this might be interesting.

This is what I am hoping for! I love making sounds with the OP-1 tape, but I wouldnt mind a little less quirkiness/more features.

The OP-z looks to be a stereo device as it has two rows of what looks like the level indicator on the OP-1. And the button we can see in the teaser pic most def is the same symbol as the OP-1´s "Lift"key! Oh man oh man oh man :omg:

Hope it's a sampler or maybe a mixer for the PO range! I've held off from the PO range but if this is something to interface and add to the op1 i'm on board, can't wait to find out.

Seems like there are 3 new POs - so something to go with them is a good guess!

If it is this "tape"recorder that I dream of and that is able to sync the PO´s.. that would mean it could sync Eurosequencers as well :woah:

Whatever it is, I hope they opted for robust I/O's instead of the fragile ones used on the OP-1

Wow. Very interesting.

Seems unlike anything else out there. Which makes it a lot like everything else TE does.

Fuck people are retarded online, dudes are bitching it has no screen, so its like EVERY synth up till 1985, shit obviously was hinted in their instagram hookedup to an ipad as most audio software becomes OS, probably wireless in the same way as OSC protocol with op-1 acting as a controller, the april update will probably introduce a midi script for interfacing with op-z

A video synth that comes with a screen is called a "computer"

It looks like it connects to your computer via software.

does look not the easiest thing to read but the design is really cool, looks like some iconic industrial design products of the 60s and 70s

Wacky! Definitely not what I had in mind when I read "video synthesis". Excited to see more!
