I've really been digging this album. Lot's of really nice twisted FM tones and textures. I'm assuming there's mostly modular voicings on here, any idea what osc is making the sounds?

I think I hear the Basimilus Iteritas (Surgeon also posted rigs here including the BI).

this lp is pure class thumbs up

Ordered the record earlier, got the download right away. Freshest techno I have heard in a while whilst still being unmistakeably Surgeon!

In interviews he's played coy with gear used, but this has an amazing rubbery quality and a total disdain of typical drum sounds while remaining (true to form) super dance oriented Man, I'm digging this album.

He inferred old, rare, and experimental in his instrument descriptions. Is this, like, a Buchla techno album..?

On the other hand...who cares? It's phenomenal! Great job, Tony!

He is on here actually - posted some of his live rigs in this thread

So by looking at that setup I'm assuming the tones I'm talking about are coming from the loquelic iteritas. Cool.

Who cares what it was made on/with/for/who.

It bangs hard! On repeat. Gotta grab this on vinyl.

I'm really diggin on this one as well.

However, I keep wanting to play some clean piano lines over top to break the "Machines Marching on Your Town" vibe every once in awhile.

Bangs harder than a prom date though.

A question to Tony if he checks in here: is the setup the same like in the r.a. show/thread? https://muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=150275

Me too. BI + A lot of FM sounds = Can't stop listening.

“The album I released in January this year, From Farthest Known Objects, I made entirely with the Buchla 200e system. That was weird because it was techno but there was something oddly different about it, and I think that that really upset people. That was part of the idea of it really, to make techno with machines that aren’t usually used to make techno. I felt more like I was operating some kind of radio receiver picking up signals from distant galaxies. These sounds seemed so bizarre and I couldn’t figure out where they were coming from. That’s where that whole idea for that album came from, somehow channeling these things that were out in the ether already.”
