My name is Buster Hymen aka Comb Filter Feedback patch

Post by dkcg » Sun Aug 31, 2008 3:57 pm

My first music post here in Muffwiggler's forum.

I was playing around with a few new modules, an AS RS-95e oscillator, an AS RS-120 Comb filter, a LW Dalek Modulator, Dual Cyclotron, and Polivoks VCF. Additional randomness and timings courtesy PlanB, sound generation and filtering AS and PlanB oscillators FMed, Evil Twin on the verge of self resonating in addition to the Polivoks. The Comb filter is in a feedback loop, the resonance gives it that brassy metallic sound. Unfortunately, the Resonance has no VC, but the module still sounds great. All that wonderful twisting metallic feedback is the RS-120 on the verse of self oscillation (which is does and sounds great).

This patch based on Karplus-Strong synthesis, but with more filters and more feedback loops.
Just a experiment with modules and feedback, not a piece of work.

Thanks! :)
I saw Big City Music's demo of the comb Filter, have been having an internal debate on which 188 to get, but driving to hear it in person rules. So i picked it up Saturday along with an Asys 95e oscillator. The comb filter's feedback sounds so cool, reminds me sort of guitar amp feedback in a way.

A lot of sounds I've heard before and wondered how it's done, make sense now. :)

If anyone wants, I can post the raw track w/o revb and delay (done in the comp).

Not musical, but ends up almost sounding like meodies once in a while, I love that Model 24.

I once knew an Anne Himen (some slightly off spelling I can't remember), my friends and I really really wished her brother was named Buster...

very cool! And nice high quality mp3, that's always a good thing, really lets us hear the intricacies.

Thanks. I should be recording the more interesting patches anyways. Nothing worse than hearing a cool patch with mp3 compression cutting things out. I think the bandwidth isn't too much an issue, not like my domain's getting thousands of hits a day. :)

Cool stuff, man! I thought I was in the 'Nam when it started...

I was doing some K-S experimentation recently, too, but it's fun to go outside the boundaries and end up with wacky stuff like this.

I was really happy to be able to get that woof woof woof kinda doppel effect drone in the beginning. I've heard sounds kinda like it with buchlas, so anything like a buchla, i'm happy. :)

I have a 188-2 on the way, so more K-S experiments for me.

Lovin' it! Definitely my kinda' vibe. Especially the dark verb and the clangorousness :)
Thanks

Very cool. I'm trying to explore feedback as well. I think I need more VCAs.

Thanks everyone. I need more VCAs too, mostly for control signals tho.
