Basic questions - building a trigger generator

Post by elemental » Sun Sep 07, 2008 4:43 pm

I've been looking for a simple way to generate triggers from an abrupt change in a CV. Mainly so I can use the MiniWave quantize function as an arpeggiator.

I just found a trigger generating circuit. I want to try and build it but just starting out. I'm confused about which type of capacitors to get. Resistors seem more straightforward. This will be one of my first circuits built from scratch since I did electronics at school (looong time ago!).

Any pointers much appreciated!

looking at the schematic, i dont see any + signs at the caps, so that would rule out polarized caps (electrolytics).
you might want to avoid tantalums.
perhaps mylar or poly* types, or maybe ceramic disc?
