[BUILD] 100m-ish Output Mixer (M-131) in euro

Post by fitzgreyve » Fri Oct 07, 2016 3:56 am

Presenting my latest module - the 100m-ish Output Mixer:

Designed to replicate the user interface and most of the behaviours of the Roland 100m Mixer module, M-131.

The following changes have been made to the Roland circuit:
- The pan circuits have been modified – the 100m module used log/anti-log potentiometers – now very hard to find, if at all.
- Options are included to use combinations of linear or log (audio) taper potentiometers.
- The headphone amp circuit is different.
- Does not include the tuning oscillator. (I have a separate PIC based design for this if anyone is interested!).

It's Euro 18HP (91mm wide). Depth behind panel is about 30mm (let me know if you need an exact dimension).

Most components are surface mount - SOIC and 1206 and there is lots of room on the PCB, so a relatively easy assembly.

Pricing:
PCB only GBP 12
PCB and Panel GBP 34

UK shipping included, elsewhere at cost.

PCBs available now, Panels will be ordered based on demand.

I have four spare 3.5mm stereo sockets (headphone jack) that I'll include free to the first four orders for PCB and panel.

Let me know if interested?

Aren't you missing a connection from right mix bus to right mixing opamp?
Nice feature set though, layout wise I'd keep the faders on the bottom for easier animation.
I did a 16 channel for my rack, but still want to do something with integration of VC panning, oh well :)

definitely interest: pcb and panel.

And, yes, the schematics in the pdf seems to be missing a connection for one of the channels to the mix circuit.

you are right - this must have crept in after the PCBs were made - the PCBs are correct, I've updated the build doc (v1-2) above.

THanks for spotting it!

Good point, but I was specifically looking to emulate the 100m module layout.

Looks great! Would definitely add it if I had the real estate for more mixers. If it had voltage control, it would be my go-to mixer, but I understand wanting to replicate the 100m functions. Keep bringing them! I adore your 100Mish LFO. Want to pick up a few more.

If there is no more interest, I'll get an order in for the panels.

If you want PCB only, I'll contact you early next week.

mouser doesnt have the 100k.

Mouser list some 10k and 500k ones which could be subsituted, but these are all currently shown as non-stock with a minimum order of 1000 !

Banzai music (www.banzaimusic.com - sorry Eur not US) has 500k log in stock (just rechecked) - there is a note in the build doc on using these instead of 100k.

masterofstuff124 wrote: also it seems mouser only has these for the sliders.

.
RA3043F = RAxx43 series, 30mm long travel
-20 = PCB type, vertical
-10EB1 = plastic lever with white marker line 10mm high
-B15 = Mouser description says 100k linear: B=linear, 100,000K (i.e. 1 followed by 5 zeros?)

so these look OK (I wish Mouser would show a picture of the actual product!)

Either the B or C will be OK

Order for a batch of panels placed, if you wanted the PCB only, I'll have already contacted you.

I'll need to put you on the "reserve list" as the current batch of PCB's is now fully accounted-for.

If there is any more interest, I'll order another batch, I only need two more to make another batch viable.

But if anyone drops out, you are next.

As above, you're on the "reserve" list as all of the current PCBs are accounted for - if I get one more wanting a PCB I'll order another batch!

I'm tempted to order two just to get the next run started... But I wouldn't have a use for two... Dilemma...

I'm interested in this as well, but, does anyone have a Mouser Cart handy yet? I'd like to have a sense of the parts cost before committing...

I have a feeling the rare parts are possibly what's keeping a lot of people away from this project... Maybe if someone here organised a group buy of the rare parts needed, it might be more successful...

I'm just buying in the hope that one day the parts will come to light...

the main issue appears to be the alpha 11mm stereo pots for the master and phones volume. note that I have seen these misdesribed as "12mm" - best to check the supplier photos/spec

However, the build is flexible in that the design/PCB will take either bushed or non-bushed versions, log (audio) or lin, in a variety of values (if you find a specific value, I can advise on using it).

I'll keep looking to see what I can find!
