Just saw this on ModularGrid.
Audio Buffer Module
Ensō is a module that contains a 50-second stereo 48k/32 bit audio buffer, with five different modes for utilizing that buffer.
• Clocked Looper: a tempo-synced looping mode, for easy manipulation of the stereo buss.
• Tape Looper: emulates an analog tape loop for "Frippertronics" style looping.
• Sample Player: a simple stereo sampler and sample playback mode, with slicing/chopping.
• Replicant: a modular of the popular Audio Damage Replicant plug-in.
• Glitch Mode: buffer mangling with a vengeance.
Ensō has a front-panel SD card slot for saving and loading WAV files, settings, and firmware updates, and a large LCD screen for displaying information. This module is designed with live performance in mind, and combines ease-of-use with robust construction, for a live looping module that can fill a number of different roles in a live performance modular synth.
Thank you in advance, Mr. Randall.

Interesting. 2016 - 2017 is becoming an exciting time for Eurorack sampling
I build DIY O_c, TU, uBraids etc... Get in touch!

This IS exciting. Considering how long the ER-301 is taking, perhaps this could save me a lot of money. Very curious about specs (sample rate, sample length in RAM, crossfade looping (PLEASE!), live sampling?), and, of course, price.
Audio Damage seems to be one of the fastest eurorackers out there when it comes to converting prototype into actually sellable product, so fingers crossed for a pre-Christmas release.

My latest release, including vinyl!

yes but not many that can actually sample, as in old school record audio as samples...lot of these mini card modules that have you messing about on computers loading samples onto cards etc...not really sampling is it..Paranormal Patroler wrote:Lo and behold, so many LCD clad sampler options for 2016-2017

keeping a close eye...
see how this stacks up against the 301...
onboard sampling would be nice... all of this computer fiddling with different file types and specifics gets frustrating... nebulae, radio music, addac WAV, g0, etc.. all have very specific file types they want and it's a flow-killer to keep going to the computer to set the stuff up...

I may be the only guy who doesn't mind doing sample editing on the computer. It's the only way to get perfect zero crossing single cycle waves. Or when you want super tight drum hits without any front end silence. I'd be impossible on that tiny screen with limited resolution.
On board sampling is welcome, but it's not a dealbreaker either way for me. I've got decades worth of custom sample material sitting on hard drives just waiting to loaded into this (or the 301, or the Assimil8r). Glad to see some legit good choices in euro samplers popping up

I see both sides, going to the computer to load a very specific file type is a huge flow killer form see as well. I try and set aside time (when I don't feel like playing music or experimenting) to create samples for the music machine. I keep about 9 micro sd cards filled and in a holder so they are ready to go into the music machine. But that's a stop gap measure.
I wonder how this and the 301 stack up against the Reflex Liveloop?

Well I can see a record option on the screen to the far left so there's that.Zymos wrote:So can it sample or not? One quote from Chris saying it's not a sampler, another person seems to have seen it sampling.

i don´t see here a: "can it sample or not ?"Zymos wrote:So can it sample or not? One quote from Chris saying it's not a sampler, another person seems to have seen it sampling.
a looper for example has to be able to record,.........otherwise it would be just a sample player.
I think the question here lies in how much samplemangling functionality is to expect ?
guess Chris´ statement is to see as a first answer on that question

Wait.... it seems there's another new module there!lohacker wrote:Some other images of the beast![]()
If I read correctly it's called "Hatbox", and it seems it already a finished product.
Or was it announced already, and I just missed it?
And giving it another look, an Aeverb 2 is also there!!
Exciting times ahead
