289 Dual Defect Processor CHEAT SHEET

Author 289 Dual Defect Processor CHEAT SHEET

I took some comments from 289 threads and organized into a Cheet Sheet.
I printed this into a single paper (double sided) and keep handy.

Hope this helps if there are any 289 owners here!

1 - multitriangle-core oscillator
left in - AM
right in - FM
X - Pitch
Y - Wavemorphing
Z - Wavefolding
left out - main signal
right out - sub osc signal (1 octave below)
thus the regeneration pots give us internal AM and FM respectively also there's general advise to keep timebase at max. balances should be apparently at their maximums too.

2 - classic fm oscillator
left in - AM to Carrier
right in - FM to Modulator
X - Carrier Pitch
Y - Modulator Bias (about +/- 1 octave)
Z - FM Index
left out - FM'ed Signal
right out - Carrier Signal
left regeneration adds AM from main signal to Carrier, right one does FM from unFM'ed Carrier to Modulator

3 - karminus-weak percussive generator
left in - FM to Memory Position
right in - External Trigger or Burst Signal (from Burst Assistant program)
X - Memory size
Y - LP Filter
Z - OSC Frequency
left out - OSC output (for Regeneration)
right out - Signal
one should use the right output only, since the left one is just auxiliary output for FM (left Regeneration pot) better keep left Balance at min
Timebase pot does a lot! notice! this is the second order system so it needs some external exciter (simple buchla trigger does the job, but feel free to experiment) right Regeneration increasing will cause continuous excitation

4 - bit crusher/sonic decimator
left in - to Bit Crusher
right in - to Decimator
X - Bit Count
Y - Sample Rate
Z - Simple Exponential Filter (to both channels)
left out - Bit Crushed signal
right out - Decimated signal
tweak Timebase

5 - filtor
left in - Signal
right in - Signal
X - Cutoff
Y - LP Digital Resonance
Z - HP Digital Resonance
left out - LP Signal
right out - HP Signal
Regeneration pots bring analogue resonance to the signal path Timebase is essential

6 - plate reverb
simple stereo algorithm with size, density and high frequencies roll-off separately adjustable
the main suggestion is to keep Timebase in the middle or even less - the sound becomes very dense and beautiful

7 - yu-verb
left in - Signal
X - Size
Y - Decay
Z - HF Roll-Off
different stereo reflection model, the input is mono, produces really lush sound. Set Timebase pot closer to the left extreme

8 - phase-ring
left in - Signal
X - Swirl Rate
Y - Intensity
Z - Ring Feeding Amplitude
left out - Main Signal
right out - Swirl LFO
this is a phaser with trick - there's a soft ring-mod somewhere in the internal signal path left Regeneration increasing will result in an analogue resonance of the all-pass-filter set internal LFO goes also to the right output

1 - ring modulator
left in - Carrier
right in - Modulator
X - Ring < NoFX > Inv.Ring
Y - Internal OSC Freq
Z - Simple Exponential Filter (both channels)
left out - Carrier*Modulator
right out - OSC*Modulator
pot 1 is sort of central detent, to the left it adds modulator to carrier, to the right subtracts it
you have the ability to get externally modulated signal on the the left output and the one multiplied by internal osc on the right output, simultaneously

2 - frequency shifter
left in - Signal
right in - FM to Internal OSC
X - Internal OSC Frequency
Y - Downshifted signal Level
Z - Upshifted signal Level
left out - Down Shift
right out - Up Shift

3 - harmonizer
left in - Signal to Down-shifter
right in - Signal to Up-shifter
X - Down Shift
Y - Up Shift
Z - Simple Exponential Filter (both channels)
left out - Down-shifted
right out - Up-shifted
it's possible to construct the chord in this program

4 - frequency2CV converter/synthesizer (saw core)
left in - to Converter/Synthesizer
right in - to Delay Memory
X - Amplifier for Left In
Y - Self-Modulation (AM+Delay Buffer)
Z - WaveFolder
left out - Synth
right out - CV
converter/resynthesizer based on saw-core frequency controllable oscillator with wavefolding capability
5 - 2-tap proportional delay
left in - to Division 1
right in - to Division 2
X - Memory Divisor position
Y - Simple Exponential Filter for Division 1
Z - Simple Exponential Filter for Division 2
left out - Division 1
right out - Division 2

6 - smart looper 2
left in - Signal
right in - Signal to Overdubbing
X - Sensitivity Trigger Threshold (right extreme allows overdubbing from right in)
Y - Buffer Modulator 1
Z - Buffer Modulator 2
left out - Buffer 1 content
right out - Buffer 2 content
both Regeneration controls at min

7 - trapezoid vca
left in - Signal
right in - External Trigger
X - Attack Time
Y - On Time
Z - Decay Time
left out - Signal
right out - Trapezoid CV
Timebase helps to extend segments time

8 - psychorus
left in - Signal
right in -
X - LFO Frequency
Y - Drifting
Z - Global Modulation
left out - Signal 1
right out - Signal 2
Timebase extends range of the LFO and audio frequency

thanks for this, it's exactly what I was just looking for.
renny3c
glad it helped someone!

cheers! Guinness ftw!
cyberdine
It really did! I was struggling. Thank you! It's peanut butter jelly time!
rkilman
Yeah, thanks so much for this!!! It is a really fun module to explore blind, but this helps a ton!! applause

Just received mine today, this will come in handy !

thanks

Guinness ftw!

Also got my second one today. Will print it out
WeepWow
Yes, thanks for this.
