a bit of self-promotion, short Canadian outing

My band, Microwaves, is playing two(hopefully three) shows in Canada next week. Info is at the first Myspace link in my signature.

At this point, we have become a two-piece band, with a lot of the low end coming from samples that the drummer triggers.

We will be playing with the Chinese Stars.

We are actually having trouble getting a show in Ottowa, but the guy who is booking it has some kind of last resort plan, perhaps a basement show somewhere.

So, this was a hell of a lot of fun. The only downside was that there was no show in Ottowa, thus no getting to meet Mr. Muff Wiggler. We ended up driving to Niagara Falls on our day off, which enabled us to get a cheap room for 2 nights, which worked out since it was on the way home from Toronto. We walked around there on our night off laughing at all of the silliness. Examples:

Our van got searched when re-entering the US. We could see US Customs stop when they got to our still sweat soaked gig clothes shoved into the stow-and-go rental van compartments. Then, once we got cleared to enter, the drummer realized he left his cell phone at the hotel, and had to walk back and get it.

The shows in Montreal and Toronto went way better than we ever expected. Both cities are pretty great, they sort of remind me of being in Europe.
