Polivoks VCF cable orientation

Post by dougcl » Mon Sep 22, 2008 9:09 pm

Hi folks, just got my Polivoks VCF. I have a ribbon cable question. With the connector tab on the right the red wire is at the top. With the connector tab on the left, the red wire is on the bottom.

Doepfer has red wire on the bottom, tab on the right. So which of these two does the VCF agree with?

Perhaps a more reliable way of asking: looking straight at the back of the VCF, which side of its PCB connector is -12V? Left or right?

Thanks,
Doug

It's too late here, but if no one answers by tomorrow night I'll pull mine out and look.

Red wire facing down, as to my set up.
It should be the same as your other modules.
You'll dig the Polivoks!!

I wish the PCB had some markings on it. Now I'm scared.

Did you change the orientation the plug came attached to the module?

According to the manual on theharvestman.org,
Configuration:
The Polivoks VCF occupies 10HP of rack space and requires
a “Eurorack”-style power distribution board. When connecting the
power cable to your enclosure, orient the red band of the moduleʼs
power cable to point towards the -12V power rail.
The manual can be directly downloaded here: http://www.theharvestman.org/polivoksvcf.pdf

Sure didn't, and thanks for the link to the RTFM! No more fear. Thanks again.

I had to look up RTFM. Haha. Nice acronym.

No problem on the manual. I will need it as of this Wednesday, which is exciting.
