The 3x VCA offers three high class amplifier circuits with linear characteristic. Thanks to AC / DC compatibility, a very low noise floor and basically no distortion, the module is not only a great partner for control voltages, but audio material as well.
The dual potentiometers regulate initial levels and bipolar CV attenuation values of all amplifiers. Using these rather unusual, yet very practical components, it was possible to equip the 3x VCA with a front panel that is only 6 HP wide. Switches allow the user to feed the results of one amplifier into the output of the next, so we can get 1+2, 2+3, and 1+2+3 outputs mix. Two-colored LEDs visualize CV and output signals.

This module is great partner to our 3xMIA.

Loving your super compact designs. Will Schneiders be restocking the 3xMIA at the same time? I would love to pick up one of each.
Electrostatic
Damn.
Triple bi-polar vca in 6hp, without being stupidly cramped...
I'm in.
uncleyam
this is amazing, might get 2 of these instead of veils / blinds

Looks sweet, Igorrr, and clever/efficient reuse of an existing design! thumbs up

go go go! the dual concentric pots on the 3xmia are great. can this do attenuversion + offset addition per channel (eg leave the IN jack unpatched, patch some CV into the CV input, offset with the base knob and attenuvert with the top knob)?

are you just trying to offset + attenuvert your cv? you would just plug your cv into the in jack for that

it depends on how the inputs are normalled to internal voltage, no? on Blinds and TBVCA you need to patch as I described to attenuvert + add offset to a signal.

Does this actually amplify things – that is, can this be used as an input module for line level signals?
jwm
nice. any ETA in the US?
mopoco
really clever user interface!
same goes for the price... applause

3xVCA and 3xMIA should arrive to Schneiders Laden end of this week or so. Regarding availability in US – I can not name the date yet, as 3xMIAs should come first.

Line level signals can not be usefully amplified, sorry. It is made on purpose to avoid clipping. Because at CW position of the smaller knob standard modular signal will become x1 (-5V…+5V) and CV can amplify it further, so it will be x1+xCV. And three blocks can be summed, so if there was much amplification – it would clip all the way.

The module does not invert the signal by it own means. Otherwise it would not be named VCA. Imagine we have some audio source we want to “duck” or “pump”. We connect it to “in” jack, turn smaller knob to the desired initial level, and then use “CV in” and CCW rotation of the bigger knob to make this audio signal quieter in response to our CV. In case of four-quadrant multiplier our audio would not become quieter, but get inverted. The user can use 3xMIA to invert (and offset) the CV, then this inverted CV when plugged to “CV in” of 3xVCA will invert the signal connected to “in” jack.

oof, very nice design. i may well replace my current vca with this.

Great RE purposing / redesign of the MIA. The MIA is great to work with so I'm expecting this will be too.

Got both the MIA and VCA from Schneider's. Waiting anxiously!

in the description:

"Switches allow the user to feed the results of one amplifier into the next."

so its not summing the outputs of the 3 VCAs like some multi VCAs do?
joskery
Not by default - that's what the switches do.

got it, so the VCA isn't bipolar, but there's an attenuverter on the CV input. looking forward to getting one!

The outputs are summed together, so we can get 1+2, 2+3, and 1+2+3 outputs mix.
Will correct description from my side

End of transmission.

Refreshing Analogue Haven frequently. Debated buying some from across the pond, but I'll wait.

In case it is important for some users: 3xVCA has onboard power regulators, so is quite immune to bad power supplies.

as everything should have! smile Just been playing around with mine tonight and it's working great. Love the format from the 3xMIA I've had for a short while too.
