While Morphagene is pretty awesome when it comes to scapes/drones/textures...etc it's also pretty great for rhytmic duties.
I've been experimenting a lot lately with percussion reels and see how far i can take it. The following audio snippet is an example of that, it's not really a 'composition', but more a self-generating test.
The reel i've used here has just under 300 slices and is filled with percussion/bass samples. The sequence is random and changes every 8 bars. This is all Morphagene besides the kick (which comes from Mutable Stages)
I've been working on another reel with a similar amount of slices, but 2 totally different audio channels left and right, this gives me around 600 samples on 2 individual channels, which is pretty sweet. Love this machine 8-)

Thank you my Morphagene brother. Please keep posting demos. This is one of two threads on Muffs where I listen to everything anyone posts. (The other one is the Lyra thread.)

Just got my morphagene in the post today. I owned one when it first came out them funds ran tight so it had to go. But we are back in action! Here is a loop recorded with BIA,plaits, and rings which were sequenced via the OPZ into the morphagene. It’s such a wonderful module.

Morphagene through some filtering and ErbeVerb can give some William Basinski vibe:

Have you checked out the “monthly drones” thread? He’s using morphogene in a similar way.

Something a bit different than usual for me, a little ambient, dubby soundscape with the Morphagene used though a Serge ResEQ and Magneto :

Settings

Post by manglepup » Sat Jul 20, 2019 4:47 pm

Hey, just curious if anyone's settled on any particular settings (using the text file) that they think are really good. Just interested to hear what other people think. I like having the CV out be a ramp function, and rarely switch away from that.

Anyone have any specific settings they really like to use?

How do you create the pad sounds? It's all from MG?

here's a mushed granularized piano into the deflector shield into some space verb. i use the planar to move through the small sample. kind a wolfgang voigt vibe going on there.

Happy to share and hope it's worth your time!

Been doing a lot of field recordings lately for use with the Morphagene, hopefully I'll release some of the reels in the near future :)

Greetings. I'd like to hear more about how people are making pads and drones with this. Everything sounds great with reverb on top, but I'm curious how one smoothes out the sound before going into reverb and delay.

I know Morphagene can't do separate pitch and time, but is there a way to get a "cloud" of samples from a very small part of a recording, modulated a little bit for start point, without a bunch of clicking sounds?

Thanks.
