Author Sampler?

Hello,

I'd like to know if there's a sampler in 5U.

Heard about samplecorder from SSL, but seems hard to buy or even find one.

Are there other options?

Sincerely, Max from Sweden

Maybe not exactly a normal sampler but the Mutable Instruments Clouds module is available in 5U:

Thanks! I just checked a video on youtube trying to explain it's features. Do you know if the module just plays back a sample corresponding to a midi note or can it also change the pitch if a higher or lower key is pressed?

EDIT: For other searchers, see thread here: https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=158892

JohnLRice! I've watched alot of yours videos on youtube during my research! Always such nice compositions. Thanks!

I have trouble trying to understand clouds. Can it be used as a traditional tape recorder - recording a sound and getting a playback when triggered while also being able to pitch it?

Out of stock!

Modcan's CV Recorder can be used as a (fairly lo-fi) sampler.

You'd have to look for a used one at the moment though.

Maybe you will find someone who wants porting this for you for euro world:

If you are going to consider porting something from eurorack, the bitbox module from 1010 Music might be a cool one!

It's an Akai for ants! hihi

Thanks all!

I've decided next move will be to try and make one myself. I'll be using the circuit board from robert sonics:

http://robertsonics.com/tsunami/

It can handle uncompressed wav files in 32 voice polyphony, has SD-card input and accepts midi. ( just as grove audios. ) And if i want, there's 8 output channels if i ever wanted to make it into a drum sampler. My main craving is a mellotron sampler.

There are some connectors on the card that doesn't seem to hard to program with switch buttons for changing bank. I would like to make a knob change the sample rate ( in other words, pitch ) of a sample. The internet says its possible, i havn't understood how yet.

Another thing i would want in the module is a record mode. It's possible with arduino, says internet, but that's beyond my horizon right now.

So. The parts are on their way. Cheaper than grove audio and a little bit of pride if i can make it work.

I'll make a post about it somewhere.

Here's some of that what made me inspired:

How much interest would there be in a port of the BitBox? I could definitely whisper in Aaron's (1010music) ear. They are really cool. The new FX box is dope, too. My fear is that the 5U scene is too traditional and won't support more manufacturers if I convince them to throw us some bones.

I'd be interested in a port-over of Bitbox. If it came with 1/4" jacks, even better
tehfizzle
I'd buy one.
DrReverendSeance
I'd like a 5U bit box!

- This would be a challenging port over, I suspect. The knobs & 1/8" jacks would be integral with the PC board. It would be difficult to use 1/4" jacks because of this, no?

This is a picture from a first ever DIY:er. Be gentle. I ordered a Tsunami WAV trigger and added four jacks for outputs, 4 i might make into triggers and two switches to change banks. The shabby plate is just for the moment until i've found out how to do a nice front.

I loaded up a mellotron and played the lead form in the court of the crimson king. It worked.

So now i've got access to alot of sampled instruments.

It wasn't hard at all, and i consider myself a total newbie when it comes to soldering and electronics. [/url]

Anyone else looking for a simple 5U sampler based off the old akai s612 or something similar? I've seen some in Euro (tyme safari) and a few pop up in 5U and then be discontinued. The ssl samplecorder comes to mind. Why is that -- I would think a basic sampler would do well in 5U. No?

Heck, I'd settle for an SD card for my S612.

Yes!

Being able to record, pots for pitch shift, start and end of sample. And being able to control with CV for pitch. Just a small little noodle of a module.

Me myself, i bought and is in the work of converting a reflex livelooper to 5U. Progress:

Looks great. eek!

Please wear shoes while working. ;-)

Oh good, you found the liveloop. That was what i was going to suggest next...
dhergott1
Yes, bring the liveloop to 5U. If you feel like making two...
