Hi all,

I've got a coco 2 on the way and I'm wondering what some of you are using as a mic for the XLR input. I've got a little cheap mic I can use with one of the stereo inputs on the front, but I won't be able to use the envelope follower on it if I have it plugged in there from what I understand (right?).

I figure since the machine is 8-bit, it doesn't need to be a super nice mic. But my knowledge is pretty limited in that department.

I've tried searching for answers using the search function, but haven't had much luck. Please share your mic wisdom.

Best,

Mike

SM57 works well. Personally trying the very classic MD21 next.

Thanks friend!

Very happy with this combo! (gooseneck and Sennheiser MD21U)

I had nice results with an Electro-Voice 635a (omni/dynamic). It has a natural rolloff in the highs that tames the aliased sound of the Cocoquantus and a nice natural 60's sound. And the CQ's preamp has enough gain to make it shine.

@Scories: Omnis are the thing! The MD21 is an omni, too.
