br>I love Jan Jelinek.
From "Loop-finding-jazz-records" to "Kosmischer Pitch" is an amazing leap in territory while simultaneously keeping the production style super consistent and original.
Much admiration. br> br> |

br>There are two things that make me almost want to start getting vinyl.
One is Bill Orcutt's new album, the other is Star Box (tho who knows how expensive that would be these days...)
Jan Jelly-neck's new stuff on his label faitiche is great

br>i saw him and fehlmann in 2002 and wasn't up on him at the time. he was the most memorable performance of the night. i feel like a lot of the "wonky" style could be linked to him with his slow evolving timing. br> br> |

+ 1
I got a copy of "Loop-Finding" in 2002 and instantly fell in love.
Tracked down a bunch of the Gramm and Farben and other odds and ends since then and have loved most of it.
Never got to into "Tierbeobachtungen" or "Gesellschaft zur...." but I am interested to hear "Bird, Lake, Objects"

br>Love his music. Last year I did an audiovisual collaboration during a week in Stuttgart with 10 international musicians and visual artists, amongst whom Jan Jellinek, but to my disappointment he pulled out at the last minute (I got his hotel room..) br> br> |

br>He's one of the few people whose releases I always check out. I appreciate the stuff he made his name with in the early 00s but I think his work has gotten a lot deeper, more idiosyncratic (radioplays, field recordings of a squeaky floor, etc) and much more interesting since then. There's also a current of bullshit (for lack of a better term) throughout his work of the last few years that I find charming.
Looking forward to the album with Asuna next year. br> br> |

br>Jelinek's new album "Zwischen" is weird and brilliant:
https://janjelinek.bandcamp.com/album/zwischen
Quote: | Devised and produced by Jan Jelinek for German public broadcaster SWR2, Zwischen brings together twelve sound poetry collages using interview answers by public figures. Each collage consists of the brief moments between the spoken words: silences, pauses for breath and hesitations in which the interviewees utter non-semantic sound particles. These voice collages also control a synthesizer, creating electronic sounds that overlay and merge with the voices to make twelve acoustic structures. | br> br> |

br>I've missed all this because I've never in to clicks & cuts/microhouse/whatever-genre, but this is certainly worth some attention. br> br> |

br>Saw Jan play out last night in London.
Had a look at his rig afterwards but didn’t recognise much of it tbh, probably because I’ve only focused on a couple of particular sustems recently.
Anyone have any idea what equipment he is using these days? br> br> |
