Hi,
i try to build a simple device involving the maxmsp external for the ESX-8CV.

i can´t find a way to convert the midinotes (0-127) to the numbers the ESX-8CV needs (-2047 to 2046, right?)

i tried the scale object but it seems to be a bit off, i just want to play "alle meine entchen" in correct pitch, seriously though, i need help please.

thanks!
os
-2048 to 2047 corresponds to ±5.333V. So the required value is the voltage (in Volts) times 384.

A octave is one Volt, or 12 MIDI notes. So 384/12 is 32 steps per semitone.

So take your MIDI note and multiply by 32.

Thanks a lot, that works except for that the highest note is now on C3, which sounds like C6 or so and the ones above don´t change pitch anymore.

i know it´s not really an expert sleepers problem but i appreciate your help a lot, could i somehow offset the notes so that i get a middle C? i tuned my modular´s oscillator along another synth, that´s how i noticed.

i attached a picture of my patch for reference.

thanks!

Just subtract a value somewhere in the chain. E.g. subtract 48 from the MIDI note to move it down 4 octaves.

Thanks a lot, os. It works! smile
