Author 2017 favourite music releases
Hi all,

I've been a bit out of the loop for new music releases, besides some artist in favor, and I hope some can recommend or list a few good releases from this year. Thanks!

Topic can also be used to post your top-ten, or whatever.
Favorites in no particular order:

Nathan Moody, Etudes I: Blue Box
Nathan Moody, Etudes II: White Box
Kilchofer/Hainbach, Acosta
Four Tet, There Is Love In You (Remixes)
Four Tet, New Energy
Robet Aiki Aubrey Lowe, Two Orb Reel

Cortini’s upcoming Avanti is looking sharp.
The best ones so far 2017, all genres, from pop to techno:

Future Islands released a new album. Sounds as you'd expect. They've chiseled out a sound of their own, quite naïve and propelling.

Dirty Projectors, experimental pop, always interesting:

New EP from Lady Leshurr: England's greatest rapper churns out cool tracks.

Zack Schimpf - Zack's house of holograms
Soft, electronic summer pop.

Doldrums new albumis nice. Electronic post-soul.

"The Focus Group's sound is a blend of influences ranging from old library music sounds, sixties-inspired pastiches, and soundtracks to 1970s films and programmes, as well as the sound collage of musique concrète." Super stirring!

Clark is so fucking amazing. His tracks are often undoubtedly techno but also much more. His own audio universe and something to dance to at the same time. Death Peak is really strong.

Ninos Du Brasil - "Vida Eterna". Dark techno. More organic than industrial, more ethno than Detroit.
Clark - Death Peak (sometimes more is more)
Moses Sumney - Aromanticism (like Thom Yorke meets Nina Simone?)
LCD Soundsystem - American Dream (80s are back once again, baby!)
The National - Sleep Well Beast (it's like all their others...wait is that a synth?)
Protomartyr - Relatives in Descent (smArt rock)
Alvvays - Antisocialites (just as delectable but more confident than their 1st)
Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked At Me (difficult but rewarding study on loss)
John Luther Adams - Canticles of the Holy Wind (bird chirps and choirs, baby)
Aldous Harding - Party (Gothic Nico? Yes and more!)
Waxahatchee - Out in the Storm (rock!)

Still looking forward to the new ones from Björk, St Vincent, and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith!
Gary Numan - Savage
Depeche Mode - Spirit
IAMX - Unfall
I Speak Machine - Zombie 1985
Alessandro Cortini - Avanti
Susanne Sundfor - Music For People In Trouble

there are still a couple of release this year which i'm looking forward to hear, especially the new Null + Void Cryosleep which, i feel, is going to be a big surprise
Pausal - Avifaunal
Alessandro Cortini - Avanti
Rafael Anton Irisarri & Leander Fresco - La Équidistancia
Siavash Amini - Tar
Logic Moon - Oblivion
Caterina Barbieri -Patterns of consciousness
How to disappear completely - Mer de revs 2
Blue Queen -Tengen
Endless Melancholy - The vacation

And many more ...

Impressive, thanks for pointing out. Guinness ftw!

The album I keep coming back to this year is The Bug and Earth's collaboration, Concrete Desert. Huge, haunting and extremely simple. There's lots of modular all over it. It's like very muscular ambient, massive bass tones and very textural. Kevin Martin never makes a bad record. I fully expect bits of this to turn up in a Michael Mann movie.
Wolf Parade - Cry Cry Cry

Said to be indie rock but that's not very descriptive. I'd say it's some kind of goth/pop/rock. Soft and a bit dramatic vocal effort, a dirty rock sound, catchy choruses and obtainable melodies. Very nice!
mome rath
exhumed - death revenge
pallbearer - heartless
aphex twin - orphans EP
ross fish - passive aggression on the internet

I'm really enjoying the two new Shabazz Palaces albums right now.

April Larson's Up Below is excellent dark ambient.

I'm cheating, but Jeff Parker's The New Breed is new to me this year, and I can't get enough.
