Is it possible to save more than the current programmed beat on the knit rider?
Tago Mago
You can save 64 patterns.

Pattern / mute
Hold down the PATTERN button to enter change pattern mode.
Press a STEP button to load that pattern. Use the BAR buttons
to navigate through all the 64 patterns. When you hold down the
PATTERN button, the VOICE buttons show you which voices are
activated. By pressing one of them, you can mute and unmute
individual voices.

Hi,

Are the pattern of the knit rider saved on the micro SD on the back ?
if so, could it be possible to save more pattern on an extra SD ?
nothing about this in the manual ...

thanks

I'm fairly certain that you can and that's the point of the card.

I thought i saw somewhere you can edit the files on a pc but i may have dreamed it.

Also don't miss the firmware update they just released! It has many awesome new features the best of which is a random variable gate length feature smile
abdul6
great ! thanks
I just bought the knit so I di'nt think to update it
but I will !
amop
Be sure to get the new update too. thumbs up
abdul6
ah yes
but how to know which firmware I have ?
I just bought it with the new alu panel two weeks ago ..
amop
They just released it so pretty unlikely it’s loaded if your KR has been in your modular dealer’s inventory for long. You can email Bastl to find out I’m sure. Mine’s a year old so no doubt. Mr. Green
abdul6
well,
an easy way is to check if the new functions are working on mine
if not...chip chip ;-)
yeah gate random I'd love !!
rayultine
hollyyyyyy shitttttttttttttttt. Knit can swing!!!

I kinda feel like a doof spending most of my music making time last night trying to figure out how to make swing with an LFO and a quantizer work.

Its a hardware upgrade - you have to order a new chip with the firmware.

I wish it was a way to just flash it through the SD-card...
abdul6
yes there is two way to do it
via the dongle usb

or you can buy the chip directly at noise kitchen

I just watched the relevant video. Wish it was an SD upgrade as well, but no complains. I'll just have to get the chip.

I don't see that random gate/trig length being that effective, at least from the video, it sounded a bit mild. I like the per-channel swinging option though, I presume it works with external clocks as well. Also, the pattern change lock option seems like a very good addition and it just might be what pushes me to start saving more than one pattern at a time; it will be so playable to swap between them now!
abdul6
well, considering that this gate-length effect is random (so no control on it)
I think it has to be mild, just to add a slight lively feeling on some tracks,

but yes for me the mains reasons to update are the solid clock
and this new toggle option on the pattern/mute button ...great
(and eventually the swing option)

update already ordered !! ;-)
Paranormal Patroler
I'm actually unsure whether these functions are per track or not. It does not state it clearly in the manual.

Could you please explain this option?

I think what abdul6 means is via the USB thingie which is used for programming using HEX which is mentioned in the video. I will be trying this on Saturday.
sushiluv
It´s possible to upgrade via FTDi Dongle and the terminal or HexUploader, all Infos and the Hexfile is on Bastl´s Github, just like he says in the Video.

I love the update, it´s rock solid with an external clock now and the new features are nice too.

I can't seem to save my patterns anymore (unsure if I ever did) - did this break with the 1.5 firmware? I just installed the new chip. d'oh!
Paranormal Patroler
Shit. Really? eek! I did the firmware update but didn't try to save a pattern.

After some back and forth testing I reflowed the SD-card reader pins, that seemed to solve things Dead Banana
Paranormal Patroler
Sheesh. You got me scared there for a while! I thought the firmware had a problem. zombie
