JD990 / JD800 question

Author JD990 / JD800 question
Heavenly3lues
Hello! Quick question, as I can't find a straight answer on a google search. I'm about to pull the trigger on a JD990. My idea is to use the rack module live for patches I create on my JD800 in the studio. Can a JD990 load JD800 patches? I know a JD800 can't load JD990 patches, but that's irrelevant for my needs at the moment. Thanks!

Found this in a post on Harmony Central:
"The way it goes is the JD990 will load JD800 and JV80 patches off a card only (SR-JV80, SO-PCM1, PN-JD80, PN-JV80, or M-256D/E). It cannot properly parse MIDI Sysex data in either format."

I have a JD990 but not a JD800, so haven't personally tried it.

Thanks. This sounds like exactly what I needed to know. Sounds like it won't transmit my patches properly.

It appears a ram cart would do it. (m-256d/e) An extra expense, but possible....

Oh shoot... I missed that part! Makes sense. Not too much of an expense though.

Remembered your situation when I saw this. Redone M-256 cards with multibank memory. Might be perfect for what you want.

Wow! This is fantastic. Thanks. I didn't end up buying the specific JD-990 in question, but will get one sometime in the near future. I'm gonna buy one of these for my JD-800, regardless cool
