Noob Question: Tini direct to Mixer

Author Noob Question: Tini direct to Mixer
Precarious
Hi,

Just dipped my toe into Buchla.

I'm wondering if the tini-jax are grounded, unlike the banana?

And if so, is it safe to go direct from tini converted to 1/4" into a mixer?

I'm assuming it is since the bottom converters on 202h are passive and
that's what I've been using to convert tini to 1/4" so far. Just wanted to make
sure there isn't any kind of necessary circuit in there I'm not aware of.

I'd like to be able to record multiple tini outs direct into mixer to DAW. I have
some 3.5mm-to-1/4" cables I can use in lieu of tini-to-1/4" for now.

Any help is much appreciated!

Yep. Works fine - I’ve made a few cables that way for getting the audio out thumbs up

“Shielded” as opposed to “grounded”. These are not the same term.
For the sake of learnin’ whilst yer in learnin’ mode.

And “yes” to what “muncky” wrote.

The one place to avoid using 2,5mm is the output.
They will crackle...
Have someone make you some proper Tini-to-yourthing cables in the right length and everything will be nice and clean.

Awesome! Thank you, everyone.

Ok, I had assumed between the two contacts on the end of tini one would
be ground like on standard 1/8". Or am I wrong about that too?

Electrical is a major weakness for me so I'm paranoid about the grounding
issues with Buchla. I plan to interface with my eurorack system, avoiding
negative voltages, of course. I understand I need a common ground
between them. A little confusing because my large euro case runs on 4
separate power supplies but all powered from the same source. In fact,
everything in my studio is powered from the same outlet to avoid ground
loops.

That being said, I should be safe grounding the Buchla to any module in
my euro case. Does that sound correct?

Your helmet makes you look official. Anything else I should know? Cheesy!

Ordered one of these as my first build:
Meng Qi Brass Kit
9 channels of banana-to-1/8" with negative voltage removal and ground jack

Great deal for $100. Supposed to be an easy build. Fingers crossed.

Also have 225h for pitch voltage conversion, scale and offset, and 226h for MIDI.

Will feel out if this is enough. If not CVGT1 is next!

Long term I want 252e. That's what lured me into Buchla. If and when that happens signals will be going in the other direction! 252e is a monster. Cthulhu

I'm blown away by how much power can be found in only 2U of Buchla!

A few more...

These are great videos! thumbs up I remember when I started my system with just a few modules. I was also very surprised by the power of Buchla. In your setup, I would replace that midi section with a 267e. Yummy filters and SOU in one module. Then, you would have some real power! SlayerBadger! SlayerBadger!

Thanks! I think that's a great call. 267e would be a powerful addition.

I remember going through many of your videos in my run up to Buchla and
saved two of your 267e videos for reference. Thanks for the advice and all
the videos! They helped me decide to get into Buchla.
