So Erica has a new Pico T->G module that does what it says, that is expands triggers into gates with voltage control. That can't be a new concept. Are there other modules that straightforwardly do triggers to gates? Is this fundamentally the same as triggering a square wave with variable pulse width?

Maths. Put a trigger into channel 1 trigger input, and get your gate out of the EOR output. Adjusting rise will give you a delay, adjusting fall will adjust the gate width. Pretty flexible and fun to play around with.

One way to do this is a Monostable. There are CMOS ICs that do it, the 555 can be configured as one, or you can build it with a handful of discrete components. (couple of transistors, resistors, and capacitors)

If you look up Monostable you can see various implementations. The length of the output is determined by an RC network (much like an envelope or slew) In fact, a slew followed by comparator would work too (in more synth related terms).

A little different but related, T flip-flop.

My 4x4 EG has that built in:

weird question, but couldn't the Ladik S-075 Burst generator double as one too. ?It get's triggers and it outputs a gate signal while burst is active.

Yep. The use an ASys RS-340 for the vice versa.

Per response from Ladik "Yes, of course it could be used as trig to gate converter"

Now you know.

The answer to most questions of "Is there something that does X" is either

A) Yes, Maths
or
B) Yes, Doepfer has a module for that
