The SMR4 has design influence from Roland 4-pole filters and sounds quite a bit like them. I have an Ambika full of them. br> br> |

Only other module I have seen with this feature is the River filter by dendrites:

There is three boards, components are through hole, the filter board is really tightly crowded. You have to pay attention to solder the led matrix with the panel attached to have everything aligned but if you follow the detailed build guide there is nothing scary. It's def not kit for a first build, maybe nor a second, but might be ok third if you have the patience enough. br> br> |

Filter is warm, full of low end but a (little) bit noisy. I always had regrets when I had to sold my shruti, that little beast was always on point for generating warm basses and pads. I'd say the Tubeohm sounds a bit like the Jove. Perfect when you put it right after digital oscillators, and it can goes from chamomile to acid.
I had ton of fun generating rhythmic patterns with feeding noise in, ADSRs on cutoff and res, and a sequencer driving the filter selection.
edit:Fm pot was not fully off which resulted into different waveforms for each filter modes and dirty sine, the sine is fairly clean (LP 6,12,18,24) as you can see.

Rhythms generated by the filter abusing the resonance, noise in. I'm using a sequencer to change the filter mode. The change in rhythmic patterns is only done by offseting, attenuverting the sequencer output.

yes it resonate with a pure sin. As you see , the pot for res had also a BOOST mode . If you move it max , than the sin is deformed - but this should be so . The BOOST mode gives more than 100 % feedback back to the input .
For a clean sin you must move the res knob round about 2/3 . If the Filter begin with the self oscillation you have a normal sin .
Little noisy . I think no . The input works from -5 to plus 5 volt.
This is the full range. Please control our input amplitude. On smaller input amplitudes the signal/noise ratio is not so good .
Any yes , it is definitive not a DIY filter for the first build . The solderpads are sometimes very small -
but- much better than if i use SMT parts i think . With a little expirience in soldering it is possible .
*** Best is - and i had seen it to late - it should be possible to mod the Filter like the Shruthi SMR4 filter. If i hane a little time - i will test the
sound designer Mod on the SMR4P-Multi.
More Modules comes soon - and hopefully also the De-Generator will be ready this year .

Couldn't resist changing the LED colours a little :-)
For the LP and HP filters at least green indicates gentle filtering, and redder colours signify increasingly stronger filtering.
The orange LED needs a 1k resistor (R6), the red one a 220R one (R5), to get matching luminosities. br> br> |

br>I´m really into this filter, but i´m not really a experienced builder, all i´ve ever soldered besides some cables and hobby projects was the PreenFM2 synth and that worked out just fine and was fun too.
