How many HP is 1u?

Author How many HP is 1u?

I saw a power lunch mini case, looks cool, I want to take it to the parking something. Has a 1u bottom row. Kind of looks like 8hp wide, would be nice to just put a Euro sideways. Which brings me to my next question. How long is 3u? The case is 44hp long. I know at least 2 would fit, I think.....

1U is 8,75 hp (44,45 mm).

or go via http://www.doepfer.de/home_e.htm

I seem to remember to have mentioned the Doepfer website to you before ... please take a look at it, so many questions are answered there.

oh dear, so I suppose the sideways option is not possible. That's silly, they should of made the tile system even so they could throw a 8 or 9 HP module. Well, scratch that idea then.

I'm not sure how this is helpful. I was just asking if a module would fit or not, I don't need to go to Eurorack school. This feels like forumception. An answer inside an answer.

you notice these details because your so distracted from your own goals and dreams. Seems like a waste of hypersensitivity.

U and hp are not units made up by Doepfer and when he set the standard to be based on these units there where no 1U modules, skiffs or ”need” to put modules sideways. This wasn’t an issue. seriously, i just don't get it
Dcramer
I have seen modules crammed in sideways.
Infact Intellijel makes a good selection of 1u and many are based on some of their utilities, reconfigured sideways. thumbs up

Even though 1U is equal to 8.75HP as a matter of length units, you couldn't fit an 8HP module between the rails in a 1U case. In both of the popular 1U standards, the rails themselves take up some of the 1U distance. With Intellijel 1U tiles there is a little over 4HP of space between the rails; with Pulplogic, 5HP.

I'm wondering what would be a good, non-wasteful, use of hypersensitivity.

Working in a factory sorting a pile of modules in 2 smaller piles of digital ones and analog ones ?

You have to hold each module up to your ear and listen. Dancing Star

Couldn’t you just measure the actual space and then make some custom panels?
