Setting Western Diatonic Scales with uTune

Post by Eggnof » Mon May 14, 2018 7:29 pm

I just purchased this module over the weekend and am still trying to wrap my head around it.

Is it possible to set the module to quantize to common western diatonic scales? Where I could say select the tonic and the mode (B-flat minor, or C Harmonic Minor for example)? I've been browsing through the scales on the memory card and have come across 12-TET (Which I believe is a western chromatic scale?), but haven't found a collection of simple tonics with common modes. If anyone could help me out it would be much appreciated.

Thanks very much!

This is where the 'scale masks' come into play. In the editor, you can use the little arrows to turn on and off specific notes.
Starting from the 12TET scale, you can now easily create any subset, eg. a major scale by turning off the notes not used.
You can save these scales and masks will be saved with the scale.
