Author Any modules similar to the Hordjik Rungler in 3u ?

I already own the Benjolin + twinpeak filter however, i love the randomness of the benjolin so much im considering getting another random source / shift register akin to the hordjik rungler circuit. Unfortunately I just dont have enough money to go full 5u for this one... Any recommendations??????

The Benjolin is a filter with the rungler as audio input and modulation source.

Want an other rungler, get an other Benjolin.

Been looking for this as well. Cipher from nonlineracircuits seems to do pretty much the same thing. Coherence is another one that extracts rythm and cv from two input sources.

For other random sources that use shift registers, look for modules with designs derived from the Buchla Source of Uncertainty: Doepfer SOU, Wiard Noisering, Turing Machine, Ornament & Crime (& Disting?).

If you can DIY, it is a simple project to build or adapt Ken Stone's Gated Comparator:

If you have an analogue shift register or a bunch of S&Hs, you can also patch this sort of chaotic circle with two VCOs (triangle and square outputs) and a bit of feedback: the audio sources provide the data for the rungler, the rungler modulates the audio sources, and so on ...

There’s an 8hp euro version of a Rungler++ that’s in the works. I’m not in a position to say anything else about it, except that it’s very open-ended and clever.

The Telephone Game is another cool analog shift register, and the NLC 8bit Cipher also belongs in this list!

Another DIY module to look at is the omniindustriies Dual Digital Shift Register - two 4 step shift registers, each with it’s DAC output.

Thanks for all the responses! Would love to come up on a second Benjolin but that might be a little too much for my small 84x2 hp rig.

WHEN?

I can’t say, it’s not my project. I sent the person behind this a word about this thread, he might have more info.

I dont know much about the Rungler, but i believe Ieaskul F Mobenthey Mr Grassi has a rungler circuit. Its an amazing module like all the IFM

The new 8hp rungler huffnpuff mentioned is something I've been working on in consultation with Rob Hordijk that is very nearly ready for wide release. It pairs a rungler with a pulse divider/ gate bus, and has a few other extra features as well.

The documentation for the module is finished and can be viewed here: http://fancysynthesis.net

Drop me a dm or email if you want more info, or to be added to the wait list for the first batch.
