Simple touchplate interface module (1 PP?)

Author Simple touchplate interface module (1 PP?)
Glitzerstrahl
Heya!

I've been searching around for a simple touch plate module that creates a gate signal while touched. Something like a 1-channel version of the Make Noise Pressure Points?

Any such modules or DIY projects available out there?

How about a mutable instruments Ears? It does what you want and a a few things more:

Ears is great, highly recommended.

http://www.synthwerks.com/ has a bunch of touch modules, there might be something like you're looking for there.

MusicThing Mikrophonie is the DIY version of the Mutable/MusicThing Ears. Sounds like exactly what you're looking for.

I have a brains+PP and an Ears and frankly both of them come into play, all the time. The same but different. The only knock on the Ears is that if you are patching near it, sometimes you can intiate "hits" just from clicking in a patch cable on an adjacent module, without touching the Ears. Not the end of the world but it confused me the first couple times it happened.

Dotcom's VPLUG is $35 and great for gates. Just add a 3.5" to 1/4" inch cable to interface with eurorack.

(only bummer is the soldered battery which isn't user replaceable)

Synthwerks FSR-1N does this. His controller modules are superb.

Yeah Synthwerks doesn't get enough love. The FSR-1N is really great.

So many fantastic suggestions!
Thank you so much everyone. I've emailed Synthwerks to get my hands on a FSR-1N, looks like exactly what I'm looking for.

Also, a question on Ears, my understanding is that it only sends a trigger when you touch it, not a gate that stays high while you press it? Have I misunderstood?

Again, thank you for all the replies!

Folktek Gait is awesome. 4 touchplates in 6hp with both gate and trigger outs. It's not pressure sensitive though if that's a deal breaker.

Soundmachines' LS-1 lightstrip does what you want, too.

Thanks from all you guys! Basically controller modules never get the love that signal creators and processors get. They are the last modules people buy. Here are some pictures of our current line of FSR based modules:

That's what I was going to suggest, too. Simple gate output on touch, CV output from location, and CV recording. Cheap, too.

The LS-1 also looks really interesting!

James was kind enough to add me to the list for the next batch of FSR-1N (Hi James, I'm the guy who emailed you from Tokyo '_' ), but this could be a cool secondary input module...

Will try to get my hands on both! smile

This is easy to do yourself.
based on a piezo emitter
key transistors
or using 4066

smile) I'm afraid I have neither the skillz, the tools or the time...
I always wanted to dip my toes into DIY but going down another potential rabbit hole seems like it would take too much time away from actually making music...

I do envy those that know that side of the modular world though...
